it's all a matter of opinion some people will like it others will hate it. like 21 jump street, i thought it sucked big time. but others loved it. and if you watch some of the reviewers, some of them really like or hate movies that i like and the other way around too. sometimes we have the same opinion and other times not. |

There were a few things I liked about ROC:
-Snake Eyes rocked despite the goofy rubber suit -Scarlett was totally hot -Breaker and Heavy Duty were pretty cool -Storm Shadow's mad swagger -Christopher Eccleston steals the show as James McCullen -The attack on the Pit -President Zartan was a neat twist Still a lot of stuff that rubs me the wrong way (boring black costumes, Duke/Baroness, Ripcord/Scarlett, The CG Destro mask and Cobra Commander looking like a Marilyn Manson reject) but I'm not kicking myself for having seen it. It's good background noise for when I'm doing something else like surfing the net or cooking. |

I still haven't watched it since seeing it in the theaters. I thought I might retry it, then saw it was being played on tv. After less than two minutes I was done.
But, I do miss the stores being well-stocked with product, and the ROC toys kick the tar out of most of the Retaliation stuff out so far. I liked the ROC toys but that film was an abomination - even if you watch it as a non-GI Joe movie.

I decided a while back to accept it for what it is. I didn't like many parts of it at first but have watched several times since then and I can tolerate it a lot more now because the terrible stuff is no longer a surprise to me. There are so many GI Joe continuities that it doesn't matter to me that they changed things up for the movie. I seriously doubt anyone can ever make a movie that will make all Joe fans happy. I can see that by seeing all the hatred for ROC several years afterward, and by some who haven't even seen it... not sure how that makes sense.
It is a movie based on a cartoon in the 80's, a cartoon that was ridiculous on all levels and never was grounded in reality in any way. Did people want more half monkeys jumping on satellites or something?

watched it with my kids yesterday...it was the first time they had seen it..They loved it. Snake eyes, Storm shadow and Ripcord were their favorites....me..not so much..
Snake eyes looked about 5 ft 3 with no neck and no muscle. Channing tatum was a horrible choice to play Duke. not only is he a horrible actor but his crappy "urban" accent just bugged the crap out of me for someone playing Duke..Couldve been sooo much more if they would have picked somoene else to play that role. My favorite part of the film was the ending...when they cut away from the prison in the Flagg...that was sweet. |

I just saw the Savages movie and thought that Taylor Kitsch could play Duke! Dude is way more believable as a soldier then Tatum.
