In other words, there's no guarantee it's going to happen. More likely Warner Brothers will reboot it in five years or so. Even Ryan Reynolds hasn't heard anything about GL2. Also note: We've seen this pattern before...they did the exact same thing with Superman Returns. Talked about a sequel, talked about it some more, and then quietly let it all die down until it was reconfigured into a "reboot" almost immediately after Brandon Routh's contract ran out. Technically GL still hasn't gotten another shot. They made noise about a sequel of course, but it hasn't been green-lit and there's no release date. It's "in development"....which is a state that can last decades (See: Superman Returns).

I also think Batman, Superman, and Wonderwoman are more recognizable to the general public than Cap, Ironman, and Thor, at least in the sense that they don't need lead in movies like the Avengers did before this whole thing started and especially not now that the Avengers has been such a huge hit.

Well, there was that whole WW tv series back in the day with Linda Carter so I figured she was pretty engrained in the culture, lol.

Wonder Woman is the most recognized female superhero, but she's a lot like Marvel's characters were before the movies: People might recognize them, but don't really know anything about them. It'll remain to be seen if the Avengers has a deep enough impact that it pushes the Marvel heroes to the "top tier" of superhero recognition in the long term, but for most of comic-book history it's been: Superman, Batman, Spider-Man....and then everyone else (With Wonder Woman and the Hulk leading the pack of "everyone else.") Heres the problem, the casual person might know the big 3 individually, but has no idea of the JL as a whole or that they exist in parallel. I had to explain the JL to my wife, who didn't understand how batman knew Supes or WW, and she certainly didn't know who the hell GL, MM, or Flash were, or that they existed in the same universe. So, i would say an origin explanation is very necessary.
