Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes. Coming this summer, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will be available for download on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC for no extra charge*. “We are all incredibly proud of Mass Effect 3 and the work done by Casey Hudson and team,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare and General Manager of EA’s BioWare Label. “Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe.” Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series added, “We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player.” Sorry for anyone hoping for a brand new ending.

I would rather see Shepherd die then them pull another "Bioware Special" - 'with the great threat finally defeated, our intrepid hero simply said "You know what? I think I'm gonna walk toward that mountain." and as he walked toward the mountain, he simply vanished(never, ever to be heard from again) and became legend.' Out the BW games I've played and completed(excluding ME), they all have ended the exact same way - only difference is they gave you an epilogue of some kind.

I wanted Bioware's story. This will be good enough for me.
Thank goodness it is over....

Eh, what I expected them to do. They won't change anything, not really. Shepard will still die, the mass relays will still be destroyed, your crew will be stranded on a world. The only difference will be 'star child' will give more dialogue on the ending and how the space magic works by spewing techno babble. On the planet you'll get a brief statement about all your crew telling you 'this person did not starve, happy now?'
Pretty much its just a paint job on dilapidated house. But I wasn't expecting them to actually rewrite the ending and make it good in the first place. This will end the controversy, most fans will accept this measly change and be happy, a minority will still want a better ending but will now be irrelevant. Bioware wins, EA wins. Mass Effect loses. Well I did all I could, guess my time here is done. I fought the good fight, now it's time for me to head off to that mountain...(vanishes into legend) |

Just out of curiosity, why do people think that part of the game really happened? Indoc Theory doesn't have to be true for that part to be a dream, Anderson can clearly be heard saying that everyone is dead. The tagline for 3 is "Join the Fight to take back Earth", not "End the cycle of Reaping" - the end makes sense if you take Anderson's statement for true, that our Shepherd is essentially martyred assaulting the beam and everything after the white flash are dying thoughts, dreams, nightmares.
The breathing scene as is, means nothing simply because it is always the same male chest regardless of your gender. Just because Buzz Aldrin agrees to tell another story about "The Shepherd" doesn't mean it's the same person. Regardless of that theory, I'll wait for the clarification DLC before I decide exactly what to think about the ending as a whole. Here's an off the wall theory for you if you can't accept the "martyr" ending; the green beam turns Shepherd into a keeper and all was for naught.

I did what i could to help the retake movement from March 9th...that said. I just looked at it as a piss poor end to a glorious franchise, and hoped we got some epilogue to clarify various things. i will never get so into a single franchise...ever ..again. It is what it is. Pride and arrogance mostly.
The raging fans today will only hurt things though as people will simply say..."Fans are getting free DLC and they still whine and complain"....that will be bad.

EA won, but at a cost: we proved something- we're getting fed up with this shit. I'm looking at the bigger picture here- we may have "lost" a franchise, but now they hopefully realize that they cannot keep doing what they did to every single huge franchise they acquire. Or people will get loud. And they will get ugly, in a civilized, organized manner that will draw attention from everyone. In the meantime, I'm gonna go back to stalking SEGA and listening for news on Toonami's possible return. And that last one right there is where my victory is. Also, staying away from BSN. I thought we were bad. I thought Sonic fans were worse. I wish I had been right.
