List of People Left to Kill:
1. Jack Harper (Note: Terminate with extreme prejudice. Preferably with his own cigarette) 2. Kai Leng (Note: Death by Charge is too good for this piece of shit. Let Tali, Liara, and/or Garrus do the work.) 3. Harbinger (Note: Make Sonic green with envy on this one.) On another note, Peace on Rannoch! DAMN I'M GOOD!

Spoilers for the ending. Do not read if you do not want spoilers. you have been warned.
You know I just thought of something. If you did the Control of Synthesis ending then galactic travel might resume rather easily. The Reapers are still around and if they managed to traverse the distance it showed at the end of ME2 from dark space to the Milky Way inside of a few months then it looks like the galaxy could be using 'Reaper Express' for quite some time. Not to mention once the got to the system from Arrival they managed to get to the next relay inside of a few months too. So apparently the Reapers have a pretty sweet FTL system. It'd be an ironic end for the Reapers. Once proud and mighty ships destroying all life... now cargo and passenger liners. Harbinger has to spend the rest of his days ferrying people back and forth across the cosmos, having restaurants, stores, pools, rooms inside him. All the while listening too 'I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite store/restaurant/casino/pool/suite on Harbinger.' And having to deal with his passengers. "Assuming control of this pool heater." "Your form is fragile, so here are your towels." |

I've heard everything there is to say about the endings- while they don't sound ideal, I'm going to see for myself and decide if it's worth being upset about. I knew from ME1 that Commander Alexander Shepard likely wouldn't survive this, so whatever happens... happens. After that, up the difficulty a notch and proceed with a NG+, see if anything really changes. Also the game's good enough that I am still willing to play it, even if the endings really do cause a terrorist to walk into the room and behead a dozen puppies every time you play the game. This game is still. That. Good. And I'm a dog person, mind you.

Alright, so I've officially finished the game once.
I'm still gathering my thoughts on how I really feel about the end. It truly wasn't "OH MY GOD THIS HAS RUINED THE SERIES FOREVER AND RETROACTIVELY DESTROYED ALL THE GOOD MEMORIES I HAVE OF THE SERIES AND FUCK YOU BIOWARE YOU HACKS!" terrible like it's been described by more than a few people all over the place. But was it a letdown? Well... yes. It didn't feel right. I know that the latest trend in gaming these days is "Hero-man has to die", and it's very upsetting that the only way for Shepard to end the threat of the Reapers is to pull a Grey Warden. I wanted him to be happy, but at the same time... I think we both knew it wouldn't turn out that way. Shepard's life, Paragon or Renegade, is a tale of sacrifice and pain. He will always do what must be done to protect those he cares about- be it just a few people or the galaxy at large- not because he wants to, not because he can, but because he must, whatever the cost to himself. Even if it means never seeing his friends, his crew, and his love, ever again, he'll do whatever he has to to give them, all of them, a future. And that's why the endings make sense. To me, at least. Am I pleased with them? No. Are they ideal? It depends heavily, but for me, not quite. Do they at least make sense given the context of the series? Well... for me, yes. Would I still like a happy ending for Shep? Done correctly, yes. /end Talitangent

My big deal with the endding is that they completely destroyed what the sereis is all about...space travel, the different species interactions and all that fun stuff.
Destroying the relays crippled their franchise...how in the hell can they pick up where they left off? What happened to all the races? What happened to my friends? Why was Joker in a mass relay!? hahaha It just doesn't make sense as to where they will take the series..they've crippled themselves. I grew up with this guys..I started these games at 14, and ended them at 19, for what seems like nothing now. That is the real let down. And all of the DLC planned will not pick up where the game left off...so why would anyone even buy it? It won't change the ending at all...hahaha |

Look at where the Reapers were at the end of Mass Effect 2, and they managed to traverse that distance inside of a few months. They got a wicked FTL drive. And providing Shepard didn't destroy them the galaxy has got A LOT of Reapers sitting around under Shepards command not doing anything. Putting those together and I think galactic travel will resume shortly. A fitting end if Shepard makes Harbinger become the 'love boat' cruise liner of the galaxy. |
