*twitch*
*twitch* I just read a 27-page thread on The Escapist over this, and I'd really rather there not be a flamewar here. I'll just repeat what Casey Hudson has stated: It takes about 3 months from 'content complete' to bug-fix, certify, manufacture, and ship game discs. In that time we work on DLC," he wrote. "DLC has fast cert and no mfg., so if a team works very hard, they can get a DLC done in time to enjoy it with your 1st playthrough on day 1. On #ME3, content creators completed the game in January & moved onto the 'From Ashes' DLC, free w/ the CE or you can buy seperately. With that in mind, they did say, from day one, that this content would be available in the CE for "free", which is fair, in my mind (I may be biased, however). I've heard conflicting reports that without the DLC, "Prothy" is in the game and can be interacted with, but it is only with the DLC that he becomes a squaddie, in addition to all the other goodies bundled in (Eden Prime mission, new weapon, alternate squad outfits). The fact is that the content was completed AFTER development of the full game was complete- they didn't "remove" any content from the game to encourage DLC sales. This is a true "add-on"- it's there if you'd like to enhance your game experience, but it is in no way vital to it, and you won't lose out on anything important without it. |

When I first heard the news about the Prothean squadmate I thought it was kinda cool, so I'll admit that it's disappointing that he's not in the standard edition. But I probably wouldn't have used him much anyway. |

How do you guys that don't plan on buying the N7 edition feel about not being able to get the extra content without paying for it?
You will be missing things like the Prothean squad mate, and the mission on Eden Prime if you don’t pay the $10 to get it. Do you think that it’s fair for the standard edition of the game to be released missing the extra content, even though it will be available on the same day as the games release? The reason I’m asking about this is, because I’ve seen people on other sites say they plan to boycott the game for this reason. They say that it’s content that was cut out of the game specifically to get more money from the customer’s, and since the content is available on the same day as it’s release that this backs up they’re claim. Seriously...I paid my $20 extra or so for the collector's edition, so I get extra stuff. I think it's nice of Bioware to give other players the opportunity to get at least the "game content" portions, but hell yes they should have to pay for it. After all, I did. I'll never understand people bitching about DLC. OK, I take that back, I understand people bitching about DLC when it's just unlocking stuff that's already on the disc, but DLC that's genuinely additional content (as this supposedly is) is just more content that you can take or leave as you please. If it's worth it to you, buy it, if it's not, then don't, but don't bitch because someone isn't giving you something for free. Oh, and no, the content will not be "vital to the game." It may be very cool and add some more interesting setting information and whatnot, but it won't be "vital." It's entirely possible he won't even be a fully-voiced companion, and instead will be like Zaeed or Kasumi were in ME2. More of a "prop" character outside their personal loyalty missions. I wish someone would make a Wrex soundboard for iOS and Android. That'd be wizard.

Man..I was really disappointed with the gameplay..I'm a harcore mass effect fan, but this game doesn't feel right...walking feels like floating, aiming is very loose, and it doesn't feel like the melee connects with anything...The omni blade is worthless as well...pretty disappointed...thus far.
Anyone else notice the change is Wrex's voice? |

Anyone else notice the change is Wrex's voice? How far did you get? I hated it at first too. But after I got used to it I loved it. And after watching the videos of the full version, it's going to be totally friggin INSANE! We haven't seen anything yet. I can't wait to see the Banshees in action. Anyone else notice the change is Wrex's voice? As for Wrex, I think that the Single-player component pulls a lot from the earlier Su'kesh demo from last year- the voices might be placeholders, or it might be reflecting that Wrex is changed due to the events going on. I'm actually quite terrified to fight the Banshees. But if they think they can be a bigger Biotic Pain in the Ass than ME, they have another thing coming.

i really dug ME2...i bought it for $20 for PS3, and I'm almost finished with it...I downloaded the ME3 demo, and took it for a spin....I agree with the above poster, the control for shep's movement and aiming has too much give in it. It needs more traction, to be tightened up somehow. Game looked beautiful though. My wife saw it and asked me what i was watching...when i told her it was a videogame she was pretty suprised, enough that she sat down and watched me play it for a while.
Might turn her into a gamer yet ;) |

After replaying the demo a few times now, I've succeeded in making my character much less ugly. And really, I'm feelin' it now.
Still feel like they robbed me of a few actions i've done as far is story is concerned from past games... And Hopefully Wrex's voice doesn't stay so horrible. I've avoided most the press about this game, Because I want to be surprised by everything! |
