Yeah, by all indications it was the revelations about the then-upcoming Mandalorian episodes of Clone Wars that basically drove Traviss away from writing Star Wars books.
Her cultural stuff for the Mandos was excellent, though I didn't much care for some of the other aspects of her writing. After the Clone Wars stuff though, I think they're going to have a REALLY hard time reconciling these two very, very different and conflicting portraits of that world. Didn't I hear that they explained it away by there being two planets of Mandos? One like in the Clone Wars and the other like in Traviss' books.

I know that Gi Joe has many story lines, from Sunbow to comics to various novels. In Star Wars, is it true that the comics, movies and novels all tie in to one MAIN story line. As in they don't contradict each other and all tell one story line? Just wondering if this is true?

The most glaring issue is the death of Amidala in childbirth, when Leia tells Luke in ROTJ specifically that she remembers her "real" mother as being "very beautiful, but sad." There are many, many more instances, and his constant tooling with the movies has only made this murkier.
OR She is remembering Bail Organna's wife who raised Leia as an adoptive daughter but may have died while Leia was a toddler. Pick whichever scenario you want and mail me my No-Prize. |

Leia was force sensitive and retained certain "feelings" regarding her mother at childbirth. She remembers the beauty of her mother as well as the sadness over the events with Anakin.
OR She is remembering Bail Organna's wife who raised Leia as an adoptive daughter but may have died while Leia was a toddler. Pick whichever scenario you want and mail me my No-Prize. The second just ignores the context of the scene in "Jedi" where this is discussed. Luke specifically says "your real mother." It's clear he's talking about their biological mother. That's the whole point of that scene. Luke is about to tell Leia that they are twins and were separated at birth. Asking if she remembers her adoptive mother has nothing to do with that. |

It's too bad GI Joe didn't have a mythos caretaker to keep the continuity on track. The Joe universe is so fractured now, nobody can agree on anything.

But G.I. Joe is kind of different in that it's meant to take place in "the real world" to some extent. The continuity has to constantly be updated or else the characters get too old. A lot of the ARAH characters were Vietnam vets. If they kept the same continuity, they'd all be in their 60s by now.

Speaking of the characters getting older...
Han, Luke, Leia are all in their 70s/80s now and still going strong. It was recently that I noticed that started getting addressed in the novels. Basically, due to technology and such, a human lives around 120-150 years or so.
