Spotted a Lifeline at my local Wal Greens in Newport News/Yorktown. Check the store at 17/Denbigh.

I haven't seen anything in the Richmond Ross stores. I couldn't care less about the hiss scout or cycle armor ,but I wouldn't mind finding a couple spirits and quick kicks. I think there may be a lurking menace though. We should start coding our posts to throw who ever it is off. I know when the whirlwinds were showing up I couldn't find them until the prices on ebAy dropped.

That was my concern down here as well. When Spirit, Quick Kick and the Resolute sets were hitting I know of only one local tanker who got a Resolute set. No sightings of the singles at all. We seemed to have been wiped out at all locations within hours.
On that note, nothing at N.Mil Ross again as of yesterday evening. |

So we shouldn't post where we find figures, we should just buy them up and offer them to other folks here? Or are you guys just being paranoid?
I know the good stuff goes pretty fast here in Northern Virginia, but I don't know exactly how many scalpers we have lurking about. |

I know the good stuff goes pretty fast here in Northern Virginia, but I don't know exactly how many scalpers we have lurking about. For every fan who posts there is usually 1 or more who don't, but isn't a scalper and may be looking for the same item(s). Furthermore if I find something rare I don't hide it at the store. I leave it out in the open that way it's a fair shot for anyone trying to get it. If you want to beat the scalpers, get to the store early, before them. I mean if you buy everything to help people you know out, what about a legitimate fan who comes in looking for stuff that doesn't know you? They're missing out. I know of some fans who just lurk forums but don't have time to post. Scalpers are a fact of life at this point, just gotta get to the stores before them. Distribution for discount stores like ROSS is inconsistent, I think they get cases split between stores like Walgreens, even so, I think their allocation is all from the overstock sold to them from bigger retailers, so they aren't always going to get even shipments. |

I don't think there are nearly as many scalpers as people seem to think there are, for two reasons:
1) look how many people popped up in the TFW virginia thread in the last week looking for Prime toys, 90% of them don't post often but they probly all read often. I think there are a lot lof lurkers but ALSO a lot of people who don't even read the boards, they might just check the news posts or other sites and just go hunting whenever. I was checking TJ Maxx/Ross/Marshalls every week for about a year before I started even reading hisstank, much less checking out or posting in the sightings threads. 2) check how many auctions there are on eBay for whatever hot figure there is at the moment. Generally, there's not more than 4-6 of any figure per week, in all of ebay. Compare that with how many walmarts/targets/TRUs there are in this country. If there were THAT many scalpers (ie: one in every area) then there would be 1 or 2 of each rare fig per area. If we had one scalper hitting every store in NoVA/DC/MD every other day and each of those stores got (lets say) 1 case then he'd end up with (conservatively) 10 of "rare figure." The #s just don't add up. By the time he sells the 8th one, he won't be rare anymore. I'm sure there's the occasional person who sees that a case just got put out and so they grab the 3 they want and also "rare figure" to flip on ebay to make a few bucks to offset their plastic crack habit, but I don't think there are tons of scalpers everywhere. The other thing is people buying cases online and selling the excess. |
