Even if it's not a hoax, say you live in SoCal and you find "The Ultimate Battle Pack" 3 months before it's supposed to be out (Yeah right), and you go into the general forum to tell people about it without any kind proof, is this helpful to anyone? Are the majority of Tankers supposed to go out hunting because of one unsubstanciated sighting? Nope. Now, if you were to go into the CA sightings area and give your local Tankers a heads up and tell them exactly where they can buy it, that's cool. But if you're just telling the world you saw it first for the sake of getting that first thread on the subject, that's just bragging. With that said, you won't see me bashing a guy for not showing pics. That's just rude.

the idea that someone announces such a thing just to brag, instead of inform, is the very negativity that this thread is talking about. way to go. |

I didn't mean it in a negative way. And I'm not talking about something like announcing Wave 10 is out, because quite franky wave 10 should be out anyway. But in cases of items arriving early you've got to think of it this way. Would Hisstank.com or any other reputable site put this info on it's front page without some sort of confirmation? I wouldn't think so.
Eitherway, that's my opinion. And like I said, I'm not going to bash anyone for trying to be helpful. Edited for wording. Last edited by Headman; 09-21-2008 at 11:59 AM.. |

I think there is a big difference between the site validating the sighting with a stickied thread without proof and the members inherently not believing it. you have to separate those two, and I think the thread is talking about the negativity of the members, not the practice of the site.

Most everyone here has hit in on the head... It's very true, that pessimism is dominant. It always has, always will be. It's been this way for thousands of years.
Optimism is looked at as, sissy, or weak... Why is that?.... I try my best to be that way, but fall short most of the time... I could start really getting into it, but it would include religion and I know thats a no, no.... So I leave you with this...

I'm very much in agreement that baseless negativity and flaming can sometimes be somewhat overwhelming. Particularly in the case of the verbal abuse directed at so-called "scalpers" (collectors) who's purchasing habits and/or hunting habits are simply more grandiose than the Righteous Pinko Brotherhood of Real True Collectors*
However, I think as Echo stated earlier, for the most part it really is simply a case that negative nancies are often louder than the others, and it's too bad*. There are a ton of real cool dudes on this site, and for the most part, I've dealt with a lot of very positive, excited people who love this hobby, want to see the line thrive, and are grateful to be a part of such an awesome community of like-minded geeks*. I know I'm glad to be a part of it. *1. Also known as the guys with less money who don't want to hunt as hard. *2. Except regarding the movie, which should be bashed at every possibility. 'Cause it's gonna suck! *3. Try to deny it, but if you're reading a thread on a Toy Collector website about the nature of other collector's postings, you are a geek. It's possibly you have a cool site, but at this moment in time... geek. Just like me.
