That's really cool but not worth the price for me to track down.

It's hard to tell if this Soundwave will be popular. Many people are disliking the figure/mold, but they like the character and the GI Joe tie-in. So it might be cheap or expensive. On the bright side, it's a story with no mainstream tie-in to a movie or TV show this year. That should keep it available. Years when there is a Transformers movie always seem to generate more people showing up at Botcon. Last edited by Scaleface; 01-03-2012 at 02:22 PM.. |

Many people buy sets to break them down and sell them online. Unless it's particularly popular, you can usually find individual figures for $40 each on ebay shortly after Botcon. If he's popular then yes, more like $100. I got this boss, Shattered Glass Galvatron, on ebay last year for only $40, and he was a bigger figure.

I'm not sure how I feel about the possibilities of introducing Joe to the Shattered Glass universe.
On one hand, "alignment-reversed" versions of a lot of characters could be a kinda cool idea to play with. On the other hand...there are a hundred, if not a thousand other things I'd probably rather see before this. Then again...a set done one year as a "one-off" wouldn't be that offensive to me. I know a lot of people would howl and rage, but the Club could always go back to more traditional offerings the next year. Lest someone pooh-pooh the idea, remember that the TF Club and the Joe Club are run by the same people. |

That's about the fugliest head-sculpt I've seen on a TF since the 1980's.

Well, Shattered Glass GI Joe characters have appeared in the Transformers club text stories. The president of the USA in the Shattered Glass stories is Joe Colton, his VP is Hawk and Secretary of Defense is Duke. They also worked in cameos by characters from Jem and the Holograms and the Inhumanoids in the Shattered Glass world.

What's confusing? One of the exclusives available at this year's Botcon will be a heroic alternative universe version of the character Soundwave who turns into a Rock & Roll groupie's van with the band Cold Slither on the side. I'm sure there have been more convuluted stories for convention exclusives in the past... I'm just blanking on any right now.
BTW - Other toys in the same pack will include Metalhawk (a toy based on a character from a Japanese exclusive Transformers anime called Masterforce), Gigatron the Decepticon Overlord (a toy based on a villain from that same anime series), Shattered Glass Treadshot (Soundwave's friend, a mirror-universe version of an Action Master toy from Generation 1), and Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus (who is a blue repaint of the recent Reveal the Shield Optimus Prime figure, based on the Generation 2 Laser Optimus toy). Okay, MAYBE it's a LITTLE confusing. Last edited by Scaleface; 01-03-2012 at 03:07 PM.. |
