I agree that perhaps more than 50 % of the upcoming figs are repaints but that won't stop me from sticking around.
You could be selective in your future purchases and only get what you really need. Of course I say that but I feel the need to get everything (singles figs). And you really cannot turn your face on the vehicles and how affordable they are vice the vintage stuff. I know that Hbro is pumping the product without a break but I kind of like that. No, I have been a fan since I bought the first toy(80's). When the Joe line stopped appearing in stores I went to conventions to find what I was looking for. Now that the line has been re-released it's been GI JOE HEAVEN. For me it's been an answer to prayer. I understand everyone has to examine their own situation.

I agree on the vehicles. I will still be getting some of those just to have some loose display pieces.

Nope, I’m just going to stick the more lazy repaints on the backburner, and put everything else on higher priority.
I think people are just getting too upset over the repaints. Okay, HASBRO makes a figure that doesn’t impress you, pass it and see what else they have to offer. The single carded figures aren’t impressing me as much as they used to, but we’ve also got some excellent vehicles, DVD battle packs, comic-packs, and more coming out. There’s plenty to enjoy. And at that, there’s more single carded figures coming out that look to be very promising. In fact, the only single card figures I’d say I’m disappointed with would be stuff like that SS in wave twelve. Wave one of this line was nothing but repaints, so all the repaints out now are no surprise here. |

if you are feeling over whelmed, just buy what you like. I gave up being a completist a very, very long time ago. I collect to many lines to buy every item that comes out for each one. I just pick and chose what I want. There have been some wave I buy the entire set and then waves I just get 2 or 3 figures.
And then I am also lucky enough that my city has numerous stores and items are always arriving so I pick up extras I find and either sell or trade them off to fund my collection also, I make it a point to use what I find to help pay for my collection, the less money that has to come from my pocket to pay for these toys, the better... |

it's definitely winding down for me ~ i'm not ready to drop it with awesome figs like Mutt and Airborne on the way, but i'm only getting 2 out of w.10 and 11 and 1 from w.12, and probably similar from w. 13 and 14 unless the Resolute figures are awesome. after getting full cases for w.7, 8 and 9 and all new characters in 5 and 6 (minus armored CC which i hate) that's a pretty huge drop.
the upcoming comic packs just revealed are MASSIVELY disappointing. I don't know what's gone wrong there. But i'm very excited for the upcoming vehicles, they have some great ones on deck: Firebat, Skyhawk, Moccasin, Whirlwind, Stinger, Ferret are all musts for me.

People complain when they can't find stuff. People complain that there's too much stuff. Unbelievable.
And why do people think their only choices are to buy everything or quit the line? It's like being selective and just buying what they like never occurs to some collectors. Why be so extreme? |

Damn good repaints, if you ask me. And the effort in Wave 1, is what we're lacking in these later waves. Hasbro has PLENTY of parts, and a whole slew of characters left to make... they're just not putting forth the effort that they did to start out. The customizers on this board alone have shown what wonders can be done with existing parts and some smart paint applications... we're just not getting as much effort from Hasbro it seems. :-\ |
