Horrible repaints that -nobody- is interested in? I am. I like that Tripwire, and I don't need to have yet another Cobra Commander to get him. I kinda like the Storm Shadow too (need to see what arms he's using before I decide for certain). The PP Crimson Guard is, well, PP. Some love it, some hate it. I'll get one to go with the current and any future Python Patrol offerings.
What else? Oh right, the diver. That one's not so hot, but it looks cool enough to go along with the diver-Baroness. Finally a single-pack red sigil Trooper that plenty have been wanting - myself included. In fact, I think the only figure I don't want is Ripper. So for me, it's one figure in the wave that really just blows. That's about what I expect from this line, so I don't see why it's so bad, especially for a filler line meant only to keep product on shelves with easy repaints. The entire point of a filler wave is that Hasbro doesn't have to put any real effort into it. So for a 'no effort' wave, this is way better than a straight release of boxset figures on single cards like we got last time. But I guess that's just my opinion. |

Then there's wave 7. One repaint and a lot of new sculpts, but they seem to be clogging the pegs (Mostly due to increased production, but the Vipers have been sitting around the whole time) I'm sure these will sell, There's enough Python Patrol and cartoon fans plus everyone who wants to get the MASS crystals |

I'm with KnightDamien, I think It's great that they're releasing a single carded Tripwire, so I don't have to get another CC. This chicken little stuff is getting old!!

Take W12 as a bonus wave that they threw together to get more varied product out. Not too inspired, but at least they are trying. W4 last winter was somewhat disappointing too - all single packaging of figures from the 5 packs. We should get 3 more waves next year, I hope at least one of those is comparable to W9 in quality.

I feel the same way, but at this point the 2 pack is gonna be the same price as the single card figs. What mom is going to buy GI Joe movie figs for there kid at $9.99 a pop. Only time will tell. I'm hoping the movie figs will make for great customs.

It will continue on for a while. But my fear is as we get closer to the movie and we have hundreds more dollars on joes. And a thousand dollars on gas! Will the style of tribute joes we are buying now stop completely. And a new style and new size figure come out to look like their movie counterparts. If movie joes are just recycled x-men figures i'll be ticked. Don't forget the transformers all those tribute style toys. Then the all new movie toys came out and all the tribute transformers went straight to clearence.

Oh and OP, GI Joe has survived many disasterous lines in the last 18 years. I look back on the early 90's and just shake my head when I think how much the execs at Hasbro must have wasted on drugs to come up with some of the ideas they pushed out in the Joe line. They've somewhat redeemed themselves with this 25th line. While I am still not a fan of the new figure articulation, it's nice to see them sticking to the basics that made GI Joe a household name in the 80's. Suffice to say, if GI Joe can survive the Ice Cream soldier and monstro-viper, I doubt very seriously that a 300th repaint of Cobra Commander is going to cause the franchise to collapse. Keep in mind that while maybe in the States some of these figures are quite common, however we didn't see a lot of the earlier ones in Canada. So the Ripper will be quite popular up here, as there weren't many of the Drednoks packs. It would have been great to get a Tomax and Xamot repaint as that is non-existent. We also don't have the 3 packs up here, other than some stores that might pick up their own stock and mark it up here.

IMO the selection of the G.I. Joes characters that they are releasing aren't the ones I would have preferred but IMO the quality of the later waves of G.I Joes are getting better and better. Snow Serpent looks so cool...
