A while ago I threw all my toys away.
I could have sold them for profit...I could have posed them on my desk. I could have done dios or made a new wave of customs. I didn't though...I just felt it was time to be rid of them...forever. there's also quite a few customs I never showed off here that were really some of my best work..I don't have any pics or anything of them. There is clearly a childish part in all of us here that loves toys even though we are all grown up.I even to this day appreciate the sculpting and detail in figures. They are like some of the finest collector statues around yet they move.I still get excited when I see new toys at the store too.It is the inner child. I think I have finally reached that point though.I feel really good not owning any toys..I feel like I'm free.If someone comes over they can't find that case in my closet full of toys. I am IIIzoeIII and I'm a recovering toy-oholic hehe. has anyone else been through this or already gone through it? or God do I even ask has anyone done this then returned to collecting? |

Nope. I enjoy my toys immensely, and though I do change the collection around from time to time I couldn't imagine why I would ever get rid of them unless it was a money or family issue. 20 or 30 years from now it won't matter anyways how many toys i owned, so I'll keep them around as long as they make me happy.

i did this...and then here i am relapsed...and worse off. like i'm trying to make up for "lost time" and collecting more than i should/would have if id have never stopped.
there are days i want to just throw it all out again...but for whatever reason i don't. Maybe that's why i'm dragging my feet on my diorama because once it's done i wont have a goal left for the collector kid in me |

it's funny for me...I kind of look at it like I do children.
I love children they are great..but I don't want one of my own. likewise I really appreciate peoples collections and customs but I myself don't want them. once I stopped playing with toys they really started to lose their appeal to me..I really wish I would have had the bad ass figures of today back when I did though. |

I got rid of all my toys, well most of them anyway, back around 87. But Star Wars came back in 95 & then there was ebay so I got back into it.

i started feeling that way, right after the low-light wave...
decided i was done, and it was time to ''grow up'' thought about selling my MOC collection, and all my vintage... i guess it was just because of bordom, or not getting anything new? glad i didnt, im back into it full speed

I think the major difference between you and I (based on some of what you wrote) I've never been embarrassed by my collection. Never worried about "what if" someone saw it. It's something I've worked very hard on, and something I'm very proud of. When I talk about it to my friends or show it off it's always with passion. So no one has ever made me feel like less of a man, or nerd for having it.
That and having a lot of uber LA nerds for friends helps too.

I don't collect. I just make customs, I try to sell all my customs though and I have a ton of fodder for ideas I don't know if Ill ever make.
I really need to pair down my fodder. But that urge to collect would return if I ever had the space and the money to do so in the right way. I still have a dream someday of building a scale Hoth Eco Base.

yeah I live in a small hick town with bikers and whores..most of the populous are on drugs and are pretty rough.
my best friend and I are some of the only people I can even think of that were huge nerds. As a single guy it doesn't quite work though..girls around here don't think it's cute or neat..they would only think it's creepy and weird. |
