Had to resist her on my Vanguard/Vanguard playthrough, though. Must... Have... Tali... I'd rather have Kaidan than Jacob. I mean Jake's cool and all, but between the two... I'll just take the Carth stand-in. I liked Carth. He's cool when he doesn't whine, like bow ties.

I am very, very, very, very, very, VERY happy I decided to remain faithful to Ashley on my main playthrough. Ashely looks REALLY good once she lets her hair down.

Well, for those of you who are unaware, Mass Effect: Genesis, the interactive comic that allows you to make the major choices from the first game to carry over into 2 and 3, hit the Xbox/Windows LIVE marketplace last week. The damage is about 320 points, roughly $4 USD, if my math is correct.
While the PlayStation still gets it free. /angryface

So, it's actually ME2 related but did anyone see and/or use the Mass Effect: Genesis thing yet?
It's a pretty awesome idea: It's an interactive "comic-book" that lets you basically do "Choose your own adventure" with the major decisions of Mass Effect 1. It then generates a savegame that you can import into Mass Effect 2. Basically, it lets you set up a more "tailored" Mass Effect 2 without having to do an entire playthrough of Mass Effect 1. |

Oh, it is totally awesome, don't get me wrong, but sometimes you don't have time to do another "complete" runthrough of the game. It's a great game, but it's also a long one.

Yeah, and being the way I am, I can't play through the game without collecting every mineral and artifact and doing every single side-mission. Otherwise I feel like I didn't play the "complete" story.
I know you can actually breeze through the "main storyline" pretty darn quickly if you want, though. |

I know you can actually breeze through the "main storyline" pretty darn quickly if you want, though. For example: I believe that Conrad is going to be back in 3 after actually LISTENING to ParaShep, and is either leading a resistance or doing everything he can to get more people to Shepard's side. That lady who takes over that criminal organization/becomes social worker after "persuading" her could prove to be very important. And so on.

So I tried the "Genesis" thing last night. It kicks in right after the Normandy's destruction, but only if you haven't already imported a save. Takes about fifteen minutes and is just an interactive, narrated comic book (the art is kinda ugly, I must say). Interestingly enough, the only choices you have to make are:
Do you romance Ash, Liara, or neither? Do you save or kill the Rachni Queen? Do you save or kill Wrex on Virmire? Do you save Ash or Kaidan on Virmire? Do you save the Council or let them Die? I haven't seen yet how it affects other things (I only completed Freedom's Progress last night so haven't gotten to where they start making all the "callbacks" to other sidequests from the first game). However, I think you can take that above list of decisions and pretty much be assured that those are the only ones that will have a truly significant impact in ME3 at some point. Not that some of the sidequests might not factor in in terms of guest appearances and maybe some additional sidequest opportunities, but they won't factor into a major part of the plot. |
