Lately, with all the repaints or reusing of the same characters Hasbro is throwing at us, I have had enough of trying to purchase every single figure that is released. I was into it all the way up until Wave 6, and then beginning with wave 7 the repaints began coming at us full-force and I just gave up on trying to purchase every single figure from each wave and decided to be picky with the figures that I purchased from there on out. Honestly, how many Cobra Commanders, Snake-Eyes, Troopers and Storm Shadows do I need? Now, I mostly purchase figures that look completely awesome or since I had him/her as a kid, I want to repurchase them in the 25th...*ahem*...Modern style to relive memories. Since wave 6, I have mostly stuck to my guns of not being feeling the need to be a completist and purchase a Cobra Commander "variant" from the last Cobra Commander that I just purchased prior, for example.
So with that said, for Wave 10 I only plan on purchasing Mutt and Junkyard, Croc Master and the Cobra Para-Trooper. Wave 11, I only plan on purchasing ONE Eels and an Airborne. I will leave the rest for you guys =). So what type of a collector of this line are you: A picky collector that buys only the figure/vehicle that interest you, or a completist and have to purchase every figure/vehicle that Hasbro releases in this 25th line? |

Like yourself, I started out as a completist. Around wave 5, I decided that I'd had enough. The first TRU exclusives (SE vs Red Ninjas and Cobra Night Watch) were the first things I skipped and it felt good. In my ideal world, I'd never buy another CC, Duke, or SE figure again. Unfortunately for me, it seems I will be unable to avoid it. For example, if I want Tripwire (and I do) then I have to buy another CC. If I want Quick Kick (again, I do), then it's another SE & CC for me.

Got to have it all but varients. Not to keen on them. I just can't see spending hundreds on one figure.

I buy the single carded figures period. Makes it simple. I miss some of the gems but minimize the repeats. I really don't need 10 CC's. for the collection

I've been able to pick & choose recently. I didn't get the 86 Roadblock (all those loud colors!) and I was never a fan of the Iron Grenadiers, so I skipped that one too.
And I think Matt Trakker will be ignored as well |

I stick to buying just the single carded figures. I but one of each to keep mint on mint card. Sometimes I'll but two or three of a certain figure such as Vipers, BATS, Snow Serpent, Eels, etc to keep mint on card if it's a particular popular or hard to find figure. The only thing I have bought that is not a single carded figure was the Destro / Iron Grenadier comic pack only because it was the black head version and it was only $10.00 or so at Target.

i can't afford everything anymore like I once did. My Joe purchases are strictly 1982-1986 (with an exception for anything that catches my eye that I think will fit in) my Star Wars purchases are now limited to the "original" trilogy.....everything else I have no choice but to pass on. $$$ issues are tight....but I'm hooked, know what I mean?
