I mix all my Argen 7 with the rest of my Joe force. They are all Americans.
Although I do like the Internal Defense Idea. I sort of envision my Joes doing that most of the time. It's a way to bring in Artillery and Armor. Action Force I have as on loan with the Joes. They are integrated right in as well. Eagle serves as an Urban commander opposite Bulletproof Skip is an XO for one of my ODA teams Dolphin is an XO for a SEAL team Shimik is a Marine Topson is a Marine RedMack-ranger Glenda - Pilot Jammer-Combat Controller Blades-pilot Manleh=Sky Patrol Troop Builders Troy? Do you have a Manleh?

Speculation time: Anybody else think that the Night Creepers were probably ex-Mossad guys? Hama has always struck me as being pretty high on Israeli paramilitary/SF guys (think back to all the times he's referenced the Mossad in the regular series and Special Missions, it's clear that he considers them as one of the best "targeted killing" units in the world) and his using letters of the Hebrew alphabet (Aleph, Teth, Daleth, etc.) as code names for individual Night Creepers sort of makes me lean that way.

Not really, no. But CIA Clandestine Service positions very highly recommend prior combat arms (preferably SOF or SF) or military intelligence experience for acceptance, and prior SF/SOF experience is a requirement if applying for the Service's paramilitary operations officer positions. I imagine that they'd have similar requirements for contractors (like Kwinn) doing the kind of "ungentlemanly warfare" jobs that are so "radioactive" that they don't want their paramilitary operations officers directly doing them.
But perhaps other people read him differently? |

Kwinn being ex-military is just a neater explanation for his capabilities as a mercenary and prior work history with various intelligence agencies (as opposed to him developing advanced soldiering skills on his own whilst never having served as a soldier himself), and for me at least, has little, if anything, to do with his personality or bearing. I like your explanation and arguments, I see that I was arguing with pre-conceptions formed as a child reading the comic that I see now, thinking about them, were wrong. I hope I didn't offend and I can now see the logic of your argument.

No offence taken, and it's not a big deal either way, as I think we can all agree that knowing/speculating about the details about Kwinn's life prior to GI Joe encountering him probably adds precious little to the overall composite picture we have of the character.
I was never terribly fond of Kwinn, to be honest, although my disinterest in him probably stems from my associating the character with the uneven pacing of the issues during GI Joe's second year of publication, and not because of anything inherent in the character. I liked him during his first appearance in issue #2, it had a particularly "pulp-y" feel to the story, like something out of the pre-Comics Code Authority era, but his bickering interactions with Dr. Venom in his later appearances just kept dragging on and on and on, and I actually felt a substantial measure of relief when they finally killed each other. Even re-reading those issues in TPB form, I can't shake the feeling that it seemed like a two or three issue story that Hama extended to fill nine months of publication. |

I agree, I remember loosecanon I think it was in this thread that responded to me a while back in a very gracious manner. He really earned my respect for that.

I suppose that means the community's impression of him is what I retain, even when reading the comics again in the cold light of day (and when one does that, there's not all that much to go on by way of background for his story, but I still want the figure because of his initial "coolness" before I'd read the comics in which he appeared.) |
