If this ZV has a wide appeal and sells well among toy buyers in general, I wouldn’t mind having more fantasy/monster type figures introduced. For me, the ZV will probably be some bio-engineered monstrosity created by Mindbender. In my “Joeverse” (everyone else seems to have one, so I might as well too) Cobra is heavily into bio/genetic engineering, allowing them to create all kinds of freakish mutant hybrid creatures.
So, having some Cobra Mutants, Cyborgs, Zergish beasties and the like sprinkled in here and there would be acceptable to me. |

On edit, Cobra has had bio/gen characters for years. Serpentor, Hydro Viper, Star Viper, Nullifers, Range Vipers, Toxo Zombies, Bio vipers, Monstro Vipers...they have dabbled for awhile.

Dr. Mindbender...check White Coat Rexs...check XOW chamber...check Zombie Viper...pending My cobra lab is gonna be good. The cool part about that chamber is the break out feature, so you can have the zombie break out and infect the whole lab. Last edited by sharky; 04-06-2011 at 09:32 PM.. |

I've been planning on getting some star wars bacta tank lukes and making a mindbender lab for a couple years now. Now everybody is doing it. Oh well, my laziness may still pay off. I'll just steal the best ideas from you all and incorporate them into mine.

True, but when I look back at a lot of that stuff, I see a lot of corniness, kitsch, and of course, NEON. The Zombie-Viper appears to be done in a more serious (though still fun and offbeat) way, from his great and almost artistic-level sculpt, to his more realistic coloring. If Hasbro intends to begin revisiting the bio/generic engineering aspect of Cobra, than I hope the ZV is representative of what that revisiting will be looking like (generally speaking). |

Kids love monsters, and parents are usually ok with killing them as opposed to humans.

The idea seems cool to me. Lately, a lot of talk has gone on around here about how to get kids back into joe and parents to accept joe being that terrorism and war are not popular topics now. Joes fighting monsters may seem like blasphemy to many, but they took a similiar detour in the '70s with "adventure team" or something like that to steer around the unpopularity of vietnam. It may be a viable option to sustain joe through these times.
Kids love monsters, and parents are usually ok with killing them as opposed to humans. You win. |
