As a side note.. Just got home from seeing Suckerpunch.
AWESOME movie. Don't go expecting a whole lot of thought or "Story development' or "Ground shaking questions of your morality or the world" to be answered. If you're going for a fun, dark, action/fantasy movie with explosions, guns, hot gals, and fantastical battles (( everything from Dragons, to WWII Clockwork zombies, to robotic assassins)) Then it's drop dead gorgeous and amazing.

I'm going through the EXTENSIVE list of operators to decide who's going to keep their role, who's retired, and who's kicked upstairs.

Freshman year of High School I realized it was all BS and vowed that never again would I allow a film to affect my manner of thought. So now I judge them purely by how much they entertain me as opposed to how much it will blow my mind. However, my disdain for Top Gun is an entirely DIFFERENT load of Sidewinders.

What I had in mind was for him to go Solid Snake and retire to a small cabin in Alaska with Timber as company. Kamakura would by then have matured and taken over his role as the Joe's go-to guy for crazy awesome stunts and top-tier ninja operator. Flint would have been promoted to Brigadier General and commander of the Joe Team, while Duke, due to injuries, was finally pulled form frontline duty.
I'm going through the EXTENSIVE list of operators to decide who's going to keep their role, who's retired, and who's kicked upstairs.

The last movie that blew my mind was the Matrix Trilogy when I was in middle school and fauxlisophical phase.
Freshman year of High School I realized it was all BS and vowed that never again would I allow a film to affect my manner of thought. Yeah Suckerpunch wasn't "deep' Though it did twist a bit here and there. It was mostly just dark kick ass women in awesome setting. Good ending too.

This I am aware of. But Hawk's getting too old for this s*** and Duke would probably want to remain as close to the front line as possible, regulations and physical limitations be damned. Flint seemed like the most logical choice after Duke, and I figured that the organization lead wouldn't be anything less than a Brig. General.
That's all you can really ask for nowadays.

For a movie to be entertaining, yes. "Deep" is good, but trying to make every last one so, or expecting it to be, is just setting yourself up for failure and disappointment.
