Yeah. I loved the Attack on Springfield.
Loved that they included Torpedo in the "bad ass" Recon team.

Yeah, I saw Battle: LA the other day... awesome. I really enjoyed it. It would be cool if they made figures of these Marines.

I'd go Tunnel Rat. Explosives expert would be handy.

Special Missions really showed Hama at his best. And that 4 issue story arc in China showed how it could be more than just individual stories. Would love to see this return to complement the ARAH book, which focuses a lot on Cobra high command politics and a handful of Joes.

That's probably my second favourite GI Joe story (with the nation of "Chomo-Lungma" being a nice stand-in for Tibet), just behind the Borovia saga in the main Marvel book. He even followed through with the extraction story (in an unnamed country whose history was suspiciously like a conflation of Cambodia and Vietnam). For a kid to read these stories, thrill to "toy-etic" action, and still come away with a sense of history of the Cold War, that was really something.

I certainly agree there, the nice tie-ins to contemporary or at least memorable events made the stories and characters much more relevant.

Oh, yeah, those were some great story lines. I always loved how he could take a bunch of very different characters, put them together, and make it work. I mean, who would've ever thought you could have a good story that put Chuckles and Iceberg on the same mission. Nothing wrong with either character, just that they have very separate specialties. Same thing with the extraction issue-putting Lifeline in the back of the chopper with Repeater and Muskrat. I think that's what made SM great-the ability to focus on small groups of Joes and showcase their individual talents.

Spearhead would make a good, all-around rifleman/pointman for the team.
