I thought about that after I posted it...the comment came from me looking at WW2 plane pictures for a reference, and it just seems like a waste of paint. Go one color, it doesnt make a differance and could save some money

To paraphrase "The F-22 is overspecialized for a mission that currently does not exist on the current battlefield or in the foreseeable future". So they've axed the funding to the program. MAYBE they'll start putting more into it at some point, but for now, no.
I often wonder if they even bothered to ask about the Raptor's Air-to-ground capability... It's just as flexible as the original Eagle. It can carry additional munitions on wing-mounted pylons, at the expense of a larger RCS. Its biggest problem is that apparently its RAM coating is a bit sensitive to the heat and dust that tends to be found in the Middle East, which seems to be the biggest strike against deploying it over there to relieve our over-worked Eagles. At this point Congress just wants it around to ward off the Chinese and Russians, as far as I can gather. We're not looking to fight say the Soviet union, jet to jet in the air any more. We're huting idiots that are squatting in caves and strapping bombs to pregnant mothers and blowing up market places. Raptors don't do well aginst that.

Read a book a year or two ago, the Raptor pilot said that the Raptor could outfly God and all her Angels, it was the closest thing to an Xwing fighter humanity had at it's disposal. LOL

could you imagine in an urban setting how effective this would be? If you could see through the walls and had the right kind of rounds you could take out the bad guys without sticking your neck out. SWAT teams could use this so they dont go in blind, a police officer pulling over a questionable car wouldnt have to wonder if the guy is going for his gun....the possibilities are mind boggling. And by using it I dont mean the air tight helmet they are looking at making these things into sun glass sized.
I.E. if you look "Down" the camera on the bottom of the plane projects the image onto your face plate so you're seeing a 'real time image' of what the camera is seeing below the plane. Ect. You can't just stare through solid objects. It's not "Xray glasses"

So.. yeah if you can "SEE" one.. and you're the enemy. 1) you're not it's target and dont' have anything to worry about or 2) Something is majorly wrong. or 3) You're dead and a ghost.
