No, but I have bandwidth limits at home (we're out in the boonies) and a wife who expects me to spend time with her.

Hey all - I'm starting to plan out a diorama centered around a Joe Team fire-support position and while I'm certainly capable of doing the research myself, the fact is I really enjoy these round-robins where everyone throws in their two cents.
So my question is - which Joes have a primary or secondary MOS that deals with indirect fire? This includes mortars, artillery, forward observers, forward air controllers, etc. The plan is to create a light mortar position that was set up to provide mortar support for another Joe mission. I'm also going to include my "self-custom" character Sgt Humpty since my actual MOS was mortars and I was trained as a forward observer, as well. Gotta have fun with it, right? My team thus far consists of: Grand Slam (Artillery / Electronics Engineer) Humpty (Mortars / Forward Observation) Short Fuze (Artillery / Infantry Engineer) Downtown (Mortars / Special Operations) Bombstrike (Forward Air Control / Counterintelligence) I can't say that I'll end up using every character that fits this criteria, but I'd like to at least consider them all. So, who am I missing? |

So, who am I missing? Artillery is a personal Fav of mine as well, Hence "Loose Cannon." Zap is Artillery Heavy Duty is listed as Indirect Fire Steeler is Artillery Major Barrage has Artillery Major Storm is artillery Long-Range V1 is artillery Thunder is Artillery Crazy-Legs is trained as a Forward Observer Grunt is an Arilltery Coordinator Duke is an Artillery Coordinator Let me think about it some more. Would you be envisioning the Forward Observer position as Airborne Inserted assets which is how most of the Joes who are, seem to be Airborne Troops. As far as the Artillery guys, I always wanted to make an Artillery Base camp like the Rockpile in Vietnam. Using what I have there would be Artillery pointed in every Direction. I have 4 Mountain howitzers; 2 Sluggers; 1 Thunderclap, and 4 LAWs. These would be near the top with a Helicopter Landing pad in the middle. Down the mountain would have to be Foxholes where teams of 2 could lay down intersecting cross fire. I always want an Outpost defender for those, but I don't have any.

What I'm planning is a temporary firing point set up to support a mission of short duration (remember, I was mortars - we'd shoot, grab our shit and take off). The whole mortar unit could have been inserted by airdrop or helo. Most often, we were driven into a firing site, but this is the Joes. If the main force gets in and out clean, they may not even be needed. I'm thinking a few mortars and a maximum of 8 to 10 characters (more than that would be cluttered for the size I'm planning). Airborne insertion is a good idea, but I'd sorta like to include my AWE Striker, as well (I suppose those can be airdropped). Last edited by Sgt Humpty; 03-06-2011 at 05:12 AM.. |

You probably won't want to use him that way, but don't forget that Hawk's also got Artillery as his primary specialty on his original file card.
