I'm probably gonna get railed on like the last time I tried to contribute to the conversation, but here it goes:
I think what Generalxron is doing is perfectly reasonable and just what this thread is about. Selling these planes at $40 is right around cost. $16 for the plane, $15 shipping, $4 for packaging materials and $5 for gas, inconvenience, paypal fees, etc. Someone who is kind enough to go out to these stores that the others of us do not have, pick us up a sought after item, go to the trouble of packaging it up, taking it to the P.O. and shipping it out should not be losing money on the deal. Nor should they expect to eat some of the cost by contributing to the community. I offered a fellow tanker $40 to ship one to me prior to generalxron's post because that is what I thought was fair and he excepted. I feel good about it and so does he. Now, if Generalxron had put up a link to an ebay auction in this thread saying "but I started the listing at $16" I would feel much differently, but we already had that "discussion." |

I visited 8 Ross stores yesterday and 2 others the day before. I will keep this thread in mind should I come across what you are looking for.
I left a VAMP and a couple of the cancelled Target vehicles on the shelf (Ram Cycle & Flight Pack). I saw plenty of Furys & Hiss'.

Can't believe the hard time I'm having just trying to get my hands on one of these Desert birds. Are people saving these for a nuclear holocaust???
There doesn't really seem to be any shortage of them in any way from what I see in the other thread(I know some don't have a Ross near them or they've not got them yet) I can't even buy a roc duke in my country!!! I'm not pulling on the old violin strings(trust me) I'm just wondering why all the hogging???(that's just what I think though obviously) Of course others will have their own opinions - that's cool of course.....I just want a serpent desert bird flying type thing!!!!!

I certainly don't think anyone has much ground to stand on if they are complaining about the price.

Agreed with GI John. $40 is a reasonable price if the item is being sold through non-ebay means for people who don't have access to a Ross store, $50 or less is what you see these going for on eBay, $60+ on eBay definitely profit.
The box in a box is probably 4lbs and depending on shipping method; can definitely cost $14-16 going to a residence. PayPal fees $1.50 (if eBay about $7 pp and eBay fees), the item after tax (9.75%) is about $17.55 and yes gas toll (if applicabe) and drive time, research time, packaging etc. The only other way to ship these for alot less is if your company or work is kind enough to let you use their discounted UPS shipping. Then you can probably ship these for under $10. |
