Yeah, it's totally true. We're super fortunate. Get it or not, I'm ok. My kids are beyond amazing... Heck I voted for Sunbow_Joe84 too. Along as a I'd gets it, I'm happy.

Here are some links to the blog I ran over the summer when I played stay at home dad. The first one is kind of long and the last is a tearjerker (fair warning!)

And GB, my life is what it is. I've got good days and bad days, just like anyone else. At the end of the day, I wouldn't trade any of it. Not for all the Shock Troopers in the world...

I'll bite.
My son is about to be 3 in March. He's adopted, born premature to MY adopted sister. Because he was born premature, he has a speech delay and some incredibly minor physical delays (mostly weak hips and zero balance). we fought for an extremely emotional, difficult year to get custody. In that year, we fought my sister and watched Matt languish in a foster home. We gave up more times than I can remember because every time we got our hopes up, they were literally dashed. We finally got him at 13 months. In the time that he has been with us, he as changed so much. He's such a happy, smart boy and one of the things that I am proudest of. He's currently attending a daycare that caters to special needs children mixed with normal kids. In the last 6 months alone, his teacher has notice that he's gone from less than 50 words to more than she can count. His favorite word? "Man." Referring,of course to my Joes. He loves them. Currently, he gets cast offs and kit bashed leftovers from my customs. I figure it's high time he gets some Joes of his own. My kid is awesome. He sleeps with his HISS every night. Quote:
well I'm hoping to post pics of andy's first joe christmas. I got him breaker and destro back in 2008 and ever since he's fallen in love with G.I. Joe. it's all he ever talks about. his collection his growing fast too. he's even got a few vintage figs now. he's a really sweet kid. gave me a firebat with avac for my birthday in 2009. thanks for what your doing. no matter who you decide to give the shock trooper to, it's awesome that you're doing thins. have a merry christmas.

well I think you should give it to my nephew andy. he's 10 years old. he has no father and I've been doing my best to help raise him. his mom recently lost her job and is reaching out to us to give him a christmas this year. the shock trooper is on his list. I've already picked up the cobra fury for him along with the new hiss tank. I'm hoping to find him a shock trooper for him by christmas.

I rescued a group of small blind children from a burning orphanage, than went back in to save their helpless 3-legged puppies.
in addition, I'm working long 22 hour days on a cure for cancer, while still training to be president.

Wow, I've been gone for a long time....a long time. And this is the first thread I see. I don't really like sharing sob stories, but it's been one hellava year and it wouldn't benefit me, but my nephew Jay.
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 1991, they gave her six months to live. Well she beat the odds and the cancer went into remission. But it seemed everytime it went into remission, they'd discover a new cancer somewhere else. This just went on and on over several years. My sister, the wonderful person she is, abandoned her son & daughter so my mom took them in and with the help of me and my kid brother she took over raising them. This year started out with my wife totaling her car in the middle of the night. She hit a huge dog in the fog. Luckily for her there was a State Trooper behind her. She suffered a broken arm and minor scrapes and bruises. But she's a med tech, which means a lot of turning patients and such so she was out of work for three months letting her arm heal. So I go to working two jobs to keep things afloat. In march my mom is hit hard by the cancer, the doctors say theres nothing they can do and send her home to die. I'm former military, and let me tell you....nothing in the world can prepare you for watching someone crumble before you. She finally passed in late April. Knowing what was coming, I prepared myself to raising my niece and nephew. School lets out for the summer and my sister swoops in and takes the kids. Takes them to Arizona, way out of my reach in Alabama. Nothing I could do about it since my mom hadn't leagally turned them over to me, so custody reverted back to my sister. In the mean time, my wife was having touble with her arm. Turns out it didn't heal properly because the doctor didn't notice in the xrays that there were bone fragments scattered throughout her arm. So they had to rebreak it, go in and remove all the bone fragments and recast it. So she finally got to go back to work at the end of October and I'm not making enough money to pay all the bills so things start to slip. About a month ago, my stepson comes to me and tells me he needs to talk. Which is the norm as I've raised him since he was seven and we're closer than he and his mom (he's about to turn 21 on the 28th). So he tells me he has a chance to make a lot of money. I ask how much and he tells me $120,000 for one year. I tell him no. he tells me, but you don't even know what it is. So I told him they're offering you BIG money because Afganistan is a WAR ZONE. When I say no, it's an opinion, not my command. So last night he comes to me and says that the company did get the contract and they ship out sometime in January. He's 98% sure he wants to go. I have no doubt he'll go. A few days before that though, I get a phone call from my nephew, begging me to let him come live with me because his mom's girlfriend kicked him out. I couldn't really say no, especially since he knew that I had taken in one of my stepson's friends when his mom kicked him out during high school. So he'll be arriving this weekend. Which leaves me ill prepared to provide anything for him for christmas. Luckily I do have a few things here and there that I've never openned, from toys to DVD's so he'll have a little something....... |

Thanks to another anonymous donation, I respectfully withdraw myself from this competition.
It's things like this that remind me how wonderful the Tank is. Thanks everyone.
