Yah, it's not that bad. I'm a contract programmer that also plays part-time Unix Administrator. So working remotely is a nice option I have. I'm required to log in a certain number of actual office hours. But I usually get to choose when. Right now, I'm doing 20 hours split between Tuesdays and Fridays.
Love the concept AA!!!... I always wondered when the GBs were gonna get a redo. I mean, they've done just about every other classic 80s flick! Yeah, i doubt GB would ever get the update i would want for it, since it's grounded in fringe science and slapstick. But the concept of a technologically advanced spook squad appeals to me. |

Eh, if you dig it. I hate staring at code. I did it for a while when i was younger, working for a small tech outfit. I had to break free. Now my certs are so far behind, i would have to drop some coin to get up to date if i wanted to break back in, and i just don't. But cool for you though. I don't have the option of telepresence yet, but when/if i do, i'm taking it. fo' shizzle!

That's actually why I got into coding. I love Linux systems and feel that they are definitely due for an uprising (free OS, FTW!). I just would like to see some common programs provide Linux support. Especially in areas like creative production (Audio/Video).

Eh, OS politics and economics are part of the reason i want out of the tech industry. I am actually working on a prototype board game right now, as well as writing a novel (which is slow going) if i could afford to get into a decent art program, i would do the novel as a graphic novel, but alas, i cannot afford that, and my drawing *needs* some formal instruction to get it where it needs to be.

do you ever get trade offers from people where you really wonder how they come up with the "estimated value" of what they are offering?

But I'm no OS fascist. I actually hate that sort of thing. People who outright claim one is better than the other. They all have their pros/cons. Seriously... When I had my Sgt. Slaughters up for grabs. I had a list of things that I specifically wanted. Some guy here on the tank offers me three of those RoC Target Exclusives that were selling at discount.... I was like... Uh, no.

I'm a novelist, too. But I'm also a musician. I've actually done soundtracks from video games. And that's the biggest thing, having the technology available. That's why I'm all for Linux. The basics needed to run a system are free. Now, if you could purchase an Adobe suite that runs on Linux, you'd be saving yourself alot of overhead. Especially because Linux machines don't require you to have a suped up computer to function well.

Yeah, i have 4 POC alleyvipers up for trade and my wants are Clone Wars stuff, Aayala Secura and some of the CW Scout Walkers (ATRTs) and i was offered one walker and one ayala for all 4 alleyvipers. The walker was like 15bucks retail -with- a figure. So, to me, it's only worth $7,or one alley viper. the other person linked me to some web toy retailer who wants $60 for the walker MOC, as justification for stating it's worth as 3 alley vipers. It just kinda floored me. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't a jerk about it, but it just kinda ... well, floored me. |
