I can suspend disbelief very easily, but even this is a stretch. That said... They do look cool. I know nothing about this line, and stumbled onto this thread from the frontpage headline status updates; someone fill me in? What's it about, what's the pricepoint, where do you get them, how hard are they to find, and when is Castle Greyskull coming back..?

Where do I ever say I don't like the line? I'd have a couple if they weren't so damn expensive.
I don't like that MOTUC is held up so high, because it's completely undeserving. They're released one at a time correct? Monthly schedule? Wasn't it every other or so at the beginning? I know that it wasn't always every month. The production is no where near what Star Wars, Joe, Transformers, or any other toy line is. One figure a month does not a high production make, and because of that, every one of those figures better be brand new parts and all top notch quality. If you release one figure at a time, there is no excuse for that figure to not be near perfect. And to me, that means no reuse of parts at all. Evil-Lyn is a Teela repaint. Faker is a He-Man repaint. That other Skeleton is mostly Skeletor. Is Stratos 100% new parts? And for something that uses that many parts over again, the price they charge is just too much. I consider it highway robbery. I like the line just fine. I don't like the way Mattel markets it and prices it. And I don't think it's deserving of such high praise as it receives. All the figures are just done in a spectacular fashion, i cant see the hate, because they have pretty much been handled the same way they did the 25th classic line. Updates of the classic figures, and these are all being done just how the classic figures were done, but with insanley kick ass horsemen sculpts. The price is high cause these are very limited small runs, small runs = more costs. You have a basic sets of costs, and the more you produce of a figure the lower you can make the price, and thats what mass retail chain stores do. But if your doing a very small run, the price is higher. It's how money works. But i do agree matty can gouge a bit as well cause there the only place that sells them. Web shops get them but second hand. I also get the Ghostbusters figures too there pretty much the same body as well. I'm praying for thundercats line so bad, i want it done like MOTUC...

ZODAK OMG! I'm kidding.
There's a lot of hate out there now, dunno why. Should be an unwritten rule on any forum "if you don't have anything positive to contribute, then don't". Just make an own "I hate MOTU" thread and complain there, I really doubt that the original poster wanted a debate about costs and re-usage of parts when it starts with "I Friggin' Love These things" Trying to get back on point. I'd love these figures but they are sold out everywhere, and expensive as heck on ebay... Anybody have any good leads to where I could get them? I simply wanted to show off my collection which I am proud of, particularly when my life is so difficult right now. Not to get in any arguments/debates or be called names. |

You would be correct with my original intent. Instead, I was debated by a couple, then attacked by another whose post was edited by mods.

The collection is AWESOME! I'm really envious and your picture tempted me to start collecting them. I'm uncertain if I'll follow through because of the high cost but mostly because they are hard to come by. |

Unless you have a subscription (and that doesn't cover bonuses), you have to be on Mattycollector on the 15th of each month at 12 noon.

MOTU was a pretty big part of my childhood, so that's why I hold it in high regard. Having said that, though, I don't own nor have I seen in person a single figure from this line. I spent gobs of money on the 2002 line; chasing them down and footing the bill when they went to the static figures. Much like G.I. Joe, the modern line is taking many of its cues from the vintage line. People had the same complaints about the modern Joes as you do about the Classics line for MOTU. I don't know if MOTU reuse parts or not, but I know the 25th line does, just like the vintage Joes did for their entire run. I think these figures look great and are being handled in much the same way most toy lines focused on adult collectors are going to end up going in the future. If I could just join a club and get a new Joe figure every month with out the hassle of searching for them at retail or chasing down this exclusive or that one on this website or the other, then I'd have done it instantly. I'd have preferred the Joes stick to the 5-pack format and release a new one every month via the net over the waves released at retail. I've never really been one of those collectors who value "the chase" as part of the hobby. But, despite thinking they look great, I won't be dishing out any more green on a new line of MOTU figures. It's a lot like having only vintage Joes and 25th Joes. I'm not going to spend the money on every updated line of these toys, like I stupidly did with Star Wars. |

Kind of makes the subscription obsolete now doesn't it?
