The 13th remake might be a good thing. I was more referring to the several incredibly inane sequels to the original. And the pedophile angle hasn't been dropped, it's been twisted, into a good way.
The potential for Freddie to be completely innocent makes his revenge justified. At least it's a clever new train of thought. In the original series was guilty. Fuck him, he deserved it. He doesn't get to have revenge for justice, vigilante or otherwise. As for his appearance, at least he looks like a burn victim, now. |

I'm actually writing a movie about a futuristic amusement park where dinosaurs are brought back to life through the miracle of cloning, I call it "Billy and the Clonosaurus"

It's got absolutely nothing to do with the general public being stupid or anything like that. Honestly, it's kind of silly to even think so, no offense to anyone.
Is it really that hard to accept that the general public just has more open tastes? We're all fanboys here, and being a fanboy means you get dedicated and pretty single minded when it comes to the genres and things you like. Vast majority of people don't have the same mindset we do. The thought that they should be upset because a movie is remaking something from their childhood, that never even crosses their minds. And it's not stupidity. It's just that they don't have the fan mentality. Simple as that.

I once heard someone refer to Zack Snyder as an innovative director and I did a double take. I pointed out how all he's done is a remake (Dawn of the Dead) and two direct translated comic book movies (300 and Watchmen) and asked what exactly he innovated.
They couldn't answer. Hollywood needs more originality!

As far as remakes and reboots go I don't have so much a problem with it as long as they do a good job with it. Keep it true to the original but still something new. Comic movies are gold if they are done right. The changes to Batman in TDK and BB both work. Iron Man is an example of how things SHOULD be done. The problem is with comic/hero movies is the studio gets too involved and wants to change things to fit what they think works. Or they bring in a director who knows nothing about the subject. Or they are just afraid to go with what was in the comics to start with. Well I hate to say it but on something like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, X Men, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Spiderman....... stick with what has worked for 30-60 years! Why reinvent the wheel? |

I can't wait to see what changes they do for the Green Lantern movie.

I want to see Wizard of Oz made - and made more loyal to the book(s). Tin Man was good, but doesn't count. The animated film I heard about wouldn't count. Wicked won't count. I may like all three of those but they don't count. Wizard of Oz.

I guess I'm glad I'm not a total fanboy. All this negative criticism. Keep in mind, not all properties can easily be translated to film. Not all older properties can hold up during present times. I really enjoy most adaptations, remakes and reboots. I can't wait to see the new Nightmare On Elm Street remake. It'll be nice to see a more serious take on Freddy. No more comical relief. And also a look that represents a "real" burn victim. I know most of you will disagree with my post. However, I don't intend to insult anyone. I give fanboys total respect for their knowledge of some of these unique and intricate stories. But sometimes we can't take ourselves so seriously. If you don't believe in something, don't buy into it. Fanboys complained about ROC before it's release, but yet most fanboys ran out to see it anyway. Remember, when the closing credits are rolling, it was just a movie. Everyone walks away, taking away something different with them. No two minds are exactly the same.
