Last interview she did said they used a body double for her, so not really. She won't do a nude scene in a movie she thinks her dad would see. Her face with side-boob yes, full-on gloriousness...no.
The interview Rachel Nichols did said they let Jason Momoa pick from a lineup of 15 girls to see who he wanted to do the scene with LOL. Haven't read this whole thread, but I saw that the actors that played young Snake Eyes and Breaker were in this too. I just saw it last night...if you do go see it, watch it in 2D. Some hammy stuff in this. I kind of cringe in all three scenes where someone is bellowing while holding something aloft :/ It didn't feel quite like Conan to me...between the first Arnold movie and the Savage Sword of Conan comics, this Conan is too chatty and plays too well with others. The CGI backgrounds are overdone to the point of being distracting. I did like the swordplay. And for natural muscles, I do think Jason Mamoa is a decent choice, can't think of anyone else off the top of my head who would've made a better Conan. I really enjoyed the movie. I wasn't able to see it in 3D, but I'm okay with that. Momoa dod a great job as Conan, and I really like how they made him a bit scarred up like he has actually been in some tough battles through the years. I love the nods to the Howard stories and even those to the original movie. I pretty well got what I expected, so I'm happy. I would have liked to see Moma with a little more bulk to play Conan, but by no meand is it a deal breaker. His persona captured the character very well IMO.
As far as what I didn't like? Well, I'm not a fan o the whole revenge plot, but it is what it is. The bloodletting was a bit too gratuitous even for a Conan movie, but I get it. The movie had its share of cheesiness at time, which is to be expected, so I can forgive it. Overall, it was an enjoyable movie for me, but I can see where the casual filmgoer would be turned off. Oh, and child Conan was a total bad ass! |

Huer-ta-tas review was the one I was waiting for. Knowing the fan he is of oiled up men in bear-skin bvds' I was hoping he would have had better things to say about it. Sounds like it ranks below the Arnold movies but above Beastmaster... so it can wait for blu-ray but does rate a purchase vs. A rental.

Um, so anyway...Yeah, you pretty much hit it on the head, Lo. I wish I could say the movie blew me away, but I digress. Again, it was enjoyable and if by some stroke of divine intervention this sees a sequel, I'd be more than happy to see Momoa continue as Conan. I have to say that when compared to the Arnold films, it is missing that little something. Say what you want about Arnold's Conan not staying true to Howard's vision (which I can agree with), but the original Conan the Barbarian had something that just sucked you in to the story. This new version doesn't really have that. I watched it and enjoyed it, but it didn't really hit me like the original did and continues to do to this very day. |

So HT, you're telling me i should relent to the wife's veto of Conan in the theatre and conquer it later on BluRay? She's wanting to go see Fright Night instead, since it got a better score on RT.com.
It pains me to see someone i care about let others do their thinking for them. |

:: Sigh::
I was really hoping this movie would dominate and kick off a new Conan revival. I long to get reprints of the novel series...and perhaps some new ones? |

I think this movie lacked a good "buddy" for Conan. we never saw Conan's growth as a character through his traveling companions. There were 3 companions, but none saw through the whole adventure like the first movie, or even the second Arnold movie.
I think Conan on the screen needs the companions to be more integral.

I saw the movie last night in 3D but wish I had seen it in 2D. Those RealD glasses seemed to catch the glare of the screen on the lower edges where glass meets frame, which I found annoying. But I digress.
I'm a huge fan of the original movie and found this one enjoyable. Momoa makes for a great Conan, much better than I expected. He didn't try to be a better Arnold, he went straight back to the source material. I could never quite see arnold as a believable thief, or panther-like, but Momoa pulls that off. He was too friendly though. I did not like how the movie jumps from kid conan to fully grown up... we never get to see how or why conan becomes so awesome. And yes, I found most companions shown lacking. The biggest failings of this movie however to me are: 1. The bad guys: Not memorable enough. Nowhere near Thulsa Doom. 2. The soundtrack: I don't know how they could've done better than Basil Poledouris, but at least they should've tried. 3. Not somber enough. Too friendly, too much happiness, too many smiles. |
