Well, Hollywood finally got around to a remake of the classic "war in middle-America" movie. All I can say is I hope they don't skrew it up! I'm trying to think of a remake that is as-good-as or better-than it's original, and I'm not coming up with anything. Usually these things are disasters (Planet of the Apes, The Posidon Adventure, etc....). This time its a Chinese/Russian doubleteam that we're fighting. I heard that it was filmed in Detroit, so at least they went on location to a real war zone. Seriously though, the original was set somewhere in rural Colorado, and Motown is about as f'n far from Rocky Mountain redneck Colorado as I can think of. Oh well, at least we get to see some God-fearing Americans kill some godless commies. They cant screw that up, and who knows, maby we could get some kick-ass toys out of this. I would live to get a BTR or a T-90 for my October Guard comic pack figures!

The power of that movie came from the possibility of the story actually happening. Any remake of that film will fall short because the Cold War atmosphere that was still prevalent in the 80's is now long gone.

I agree. Man, I do remember seeing it as a kid and it scared the hell out of me at the time! We all have Ronie Regan to thank for making sure that it didn't happen. Rest in peace, Gipper.

The movie is In post production and is scheduled for a nov 24 release. But MGM is having money issues so it may never be finished. it might go straight to DVD if it gets released.

Hmmm. I disagree. This is actually a very possible scenario. I have two uncles that worked for the company for twenty years, and an aunt that worked for D.O.D. They keep up with this stuff very closely, and I'll tell you that from numerous in depth conversations with them, we live with a very false sense of security.
There are situations a long time in the making, that if they come to full fruition, which I hope to G_D they don't, China and/or Russia, may decide that an invasion is their best option. I just hope it never happens. |

If it was any good wouldn't somebody have bought it already... I mean the OG Red Dawn was a cult classic; name recognition alone would make it some money.

I dont see these remake working. Like Roshan said, that was the atmoshere in 80s and everyone hated the russians. Hundreds of movies deplicting the russkies as bad guys were made then. I loved the original and dont see this coming to a thearter near you. Just my opinion
