AND I LOVED IT. It definitely had the original feel to it.
if youre getting scared by bad reviews.. dont let the reviews bother you... because the original predator also had gotten bad reviews when it was released..but people warmed up to it over the years.. this movie definitely delivers the predator feel, i cant wait to see it again |

Just got back from the midnight screen of Predators, and wanted to list a couple of thoughts. First in my mind, is the movie made me feel the same way (as I remember it) that I did seeing the original in the theater back in 1987. This was pre-internet, and there was no such thing as having your movie spoiled so I had zero expectations (in retrospect it was a nice little bonus, but is almost impossible to escape today), so that was great!
The effects are all well done, with only a tiny moment or two of off-putting CGI. The performances are all true to character, with no real suprises given that the name actors are all rock solid anyway. Walton Goggins does kind of steal the scenes he's in, but hey...he was one of the best things about The Shield and Justified, so rock on you glorious redneck! The story tracks as you might expect, with the only staid point being who lives and dies and in what order. Kind of see it coming. I would've like to have seen a couple of the characters explored or exploited a bit more (I'm looking at you Topher Grace and Walton Goggins), but that really is the only issue I have with the storyline. The fighting and deaths are brutal, and not safe for the young, so don't take the kids. Laurence Fishburne exploits his bit role very nicely, and adds a little twist. It seemed to me that most of the effect were practical as opposed to CG, and resulted in a much better look than either of the Predator movies that have come before it recently. Overall, there is very little to deride here, and much to be enjoyed. The movie isn't going to cure cancer, or bring world peace, but it is very easy to enjoy and well worth the cost of a full price ticket. Now go see it! Actually it has been getting some pretty positive reviews so far from what I've seen. It has a 71% fresh rating on rottentomatoes.com, which is really good for a movie like that, or any movie in general. But yea it looks good, hopefully I'll have time to check it out soon.

I'm glad to hear that this seems to be better than either AvP or AvP:R. It's been a long time coming for a worthy successor to be released.

Excellent, I was hoping this would have an old-school feel to it.
