I understand that the films were not an accurate representation of Australia, but I think most films are hardly an accurate representation of the places or events they represent, especially if the film is an action comedy. Having been in the military, it's painful to watch most modern military movies, since they get so much wrong. One of the few exceptions was Black Hawk Down.
I've been to Australia and New Zealand, and they both seem not too disimilar from parts of America. Same with Germany. I was stationed there for 2 years, and while the scenery and beer is far more preferable to Pittsburgh, there's not a lot that makes it all that different.

The first movie was great!
The two years after it came out, when every American kept trying to say "G'day mate!" in a bad Aussie accent, not so much... |

Here's Mexico City at night... And here it is finding out that there are worse things than American tourists. |

YEAH! I forgot about that part. I need to watch this film again. I think it was particularly funny because Hugo Weaving was the bad guy, and the first time I saw this was right after the Matrix came out, and it was like Agent Smith was uploaded into a slapstick. Classic movie.

Reckless Kelly is a great "stupid" movie!
Croc. Dundee 1 is a classic, the second has its moments, and I can't say that I bothered to watch the third one... I did like Almost an Angel which Paul Hogan was a bank robber that made himself up like Rod Stewart to rob a bank. He then goes on to meet a wheelchair bound Casey Jones from TMNT. Its been a while since I've seen it so I don't know how well its held up. |
