So what were you doing on this day Thirty Years ago? I know what I was doing, going to see The Empire Strikes Back and playing Pac-Man. Today is the thirtieth anniversary of both. How cool is that?
So come on guys, lets show some love for possibly the best damn movie ever made. At least in my opinion. I've watched this movie more than any other movie ever made, probably getting close to five hundred times by now, maybe more. This movie has influenced my life more than any other piece of Pop Culture and I'm sure it will continue to do so. So what were you doing the day, Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back came out?

This was the movie that formed the hub of my childhood. I was a little too young for Star Wars (although I was die hard when it was released even at 5) but Empire was the one that had me searching for figures, getting the Snowspeeder and Hoth Luke for my birthday, and actually playing the Battle of Hoth with the entire 3rd grade class with battles over who would be Luke or Han, and getting the larger kids to carry us like Taun Tauns.

Man, I remember those night spent in Burger King Drive Thrus oogling the pictures of the glasses. I still have the yellowed cracked remains of the Burger King "Poster" they gave out that you were supposed to put stickers on.
I loved those freaking glasses stared at them for hours on end. I don't think we saw the movie opening night but I'm pretty sure my parents and I saw it the first weekend it was out. I remember waiting in the long line at the theater, and looking at the Star Wars pop corn bucket I wanted but my parents didn't want to spend that much. LOL We did get popcorn just not the BIGGEST one LOL. Back then I always loved getting Star Pops to eat with my Popcorn I would lick the sucker then stick it in my popcorn and eat it off the sucker. LOL gross I know but hey I just turned 5 at the time. I will NEVER EVER forget those first ten minutes or so of the film, with the Probe Droid, the first time we see the Executor and of course the Taun Taun. Then comes the At-Ats.. wow just pure wow. Secretly I was even at 5 a Darth Vader fan. I just always had a thing for the Empires cool toys I just wanted them to not be so evil. LOL

Empire was the first time I knew what a sequel was. When I saw the trailer all I knew was that my favorite characters were coming back and they had cool new outfits.
It also meant I couldn't play with my Han Solo figure for three years. And I never had the Slave-1 back then with the carbonite Han. |

Well I was about six so I have no real recollection. I don't actually remember being in the theater but I certainly remember watching all the reruns on TV.

I remember standing in a line at a movie theater in bakersfield that wrapped all the way around the building. We waited through an entire showing before we got in... I still can't believe my dad did that for me
