I watch it from time to time.
It's cool if only for the end-of-show fight scenes; the "science" strikes me as critically flawed, such as their habit of testing weapons from the same category in two different ways (the grenades from Spetsnaz vs. Green Berets comes to mind.). Plus it was awesome watching a knight fight a pirate and a Ninja get ROFLSTOMPED by a Spartan. And Mafia vs Yakuza was pure freakin' win.

EDIT: With even more awesomeness inbound, including SS vs. Viet Cong, US Navy SEAL vs. Israeli Commando, and SWAT vs. GSG9.

One of the major flaws in the show was when they had Shoa lin monks vs. polinisian warrior. They did some tests with the chain whip (which is a weapon I have had some training in, not major I am pretty poor at it). Anyway they the anaylis said the weapon was ineffective at close combat. Not exactly true, there are techniques for close combat (and with my very limited experence I know the "experts" should be aware of this if I know a few of them). Even though the monks beat the polinisians, still it was such a glaring mistake I had a hard time letting it go.

I watch the series. The weapons comparisons are interesting and entertaining to watch.

They never take into account the blunt force trauma of weapons...like Samurai vs/ Viking, the Katana may not have cut the viking chain mail, but think of a sword flashing out that fast, it's still gonna hit hard and knock the wind out of you.
Plus, they only go by weapon effectivness not any fighting skill or weapon profeciency The Ninja vs/ Spartan...A ninja wouldn't be walking around a field in daylight, and yes, most likely would hide til the spartan slept. The most gruesome one I've seen was IRA vs/ Taliban lmao... IRA Flamethrowers are ghastly

Aw that show is AWESOME! I liked watching the Spetnaz guy get punched by the host, who asked 'Cant you feel that?!?'
'Yes, I feel it. Im just ignoring it.' |
