I'm a pretty big fan of the original TMNT toon and toys...and I was just googling the dvds...and saw the recent stuff which I didnt even know existed.
It's actually not that bad, I think the animation is pretty awesome and the overall art is really cool. 2 problems though, is it me or is Leonardo waaaaaaaaay more serious and straight laced than he was in the original. I mean I know thats his character, but man its like to the max here. 2nd: Why did they take Casey Jones who was a borderline pyschopath, anti hero that sounded like Clint Eastwood--into an idiot with a NY accent?-----totally week. Question: When were these released, and are they still comming out currently?? |

I don't remember when these came out... maybe 2004-ish? Maybe earlier or later, don't remember.
Either way, it wasn't a bad series. The time travel episodes were kinda silly, but that's about it. I liked how it was less retarded than the old series. I was in about 2nd or 3rd grade when the original show came on. I thought it was stupid as hell. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow were "my ninjas", and they sorta set the tone for me with "ninjas". Ninja Turtles were just comical, and they got on my nerves. I hated taking Joes over to some Kid's house and all he wanted to play was Turtles. Then there were massive arguments over who was the best ninja. Sorry, Arashikage beats Rat any day in my book (and the redhead in GI Joe actually hooked up with the Ninja, not the retarded athelete). But the new series was enjoyable. I would like to get some episodes on DVD. |

I love that series. Well I'm a huge TMNT fan in general. I don't think they ever released the season on dvd. just individuals or parts. But yeah the fast forward series was kind of silly, but whatever. The Back to the Sewer series tried to get back the feel of the when it all started, but it just couldn't manage it imo. Oh well I pretty much love anything tmnt.

I "shouldnt" be into it as much as I am. It came out and I was in middle school...I was closet fan.
I still think its a fun thing though, very creative. Finding TMNT stuff is such a bitch though! Its cheap enough on ebay...I just think they should push it more, keep something recent on the shelves. It would be really cool to have a monthly comic as well. |

I was a fan of the classic 1980s toons myself and grew up a fan of the toys... Still remember my first TMNT toy, Donatello.
The newer toon is more closely based off the classic Mirage comics hence the changes to characters like Leo being more serious big time and Casey being less of a crazy lunatic then the 80s toon. I actually really got into the newer toon for a number of years and bought up a number of the figures. However, like the 80s toon, it eventually got to be too much and I kinda lost interest. It especially sucked when they changed the art design much like the 80s toon did at the end of its run. The 80s toon in its final season or two was altered so the characters more resembled the live action TMNT movies and it just came off looking awkward. The newer toon stayed the same up til they did the 'Fast Forward' thing with the Turtles in the future for a couple seasons. Nothing drastic, just a bit more streamlined in style, but then they put the Turtles back in their original time in 'Back to the Swers' season and unfortunately, major changes again, this time to make everyone resemble the CG TMNT movie counterparts and again, stupidly awkward looking. Also, the new toon had a screw-up in that the executives of the channel shown the cartoon forced the 'Fast Forward' stuff to be on first and so the final story arc of the regular TMNT toon 'The Ninja Tribunal' was in limbo for a while, but then finally brought out as 'The Lost Episodes' when they had no new Turtles episodes to show. And...I just know way too much about TMNT. LOL Anyway, along with the modern TMNT toon, I highly recommend the TMNT animated movie that came out not too long ago where the modern TMNT team up with the 80s TMNT. Granted, they exaggerate (sp?) the 80s Turtles antics, it's still a good nostalgia watch. |

Wow man! The 1st 5 seconds I was like wtf? It's just a bite off of the old stuff...
That looks pretty damn awesome--I can't believe having a 25th anniversary wasnt a bigger deal for that storyline. I gotta try to snag that on dvd. |

Yeah it is well worth it. I loved seeing the black and white turtles in it.

It would be really cool to have a monthly comic as well. I remember when I was a kid the shelves where stocked full of TMNT toys and I would buy a TMNT toy a week. I still buy things every now and again. There's a live action movie coming out next year. Hopefully it'll give TMNT the boost it needs to get back in the game.
