Five friends and I all went to see it on Saturday morning.
We all liked it, but I felt somewhat vindicated when they all agreed we shouldn't have spent the extra money for 3D. There were like...2 shots in the entire movie that were clearly made for 3D (and probably added after they chose to make the conversion), and they were both like 2 seconds long. Otherwise you could barely tell the movie was 3D at all. Still, as far as the movie itself, we all enjoyed it. The original Clash is only a "classic" because of nostalgia glasses and being Harryhausen's last film...it's a pretty terrible movie. This one paid homage to it while doing it's own thing, and I'll say the opposite of what someone else said in this thread: This was the first movie I've seen him in where I actually kinda liked Sam Worthington. Yeah, there were a bunch of changes from the original. Some I liked (Draco, the leader of the Argos guardsmen, was way more bad-ass in this one, and actually the guards received a lot MORE character development this time around...or at least the four "main" guardsmen (Captain, Old Guy, Young Guy, and Not-Quite-As-Young Guy). Of course, they also switched up the ending a bit so that there are more sequel possibilities. Pretty much everything else was mostly cosmetic. Calibos' story was changed, but we actually saw it on screen this time around (and he wasn't just a "burn victim") and he really becomes an almost-sympathetic character who was really screwed over by the gods. About the only thing I didn't like was the way they used Hades in the plotline. That one seemed a little too cliched for me (That and despite his job Hades wasn't really any more evil than the rest of the Greek Gods in the original mythology...they were pretty much all a pack of bastards, except for maybe Apollo), though I did like the nice touch they added in that he looked healthier as he grew more powerful. |

I saw it with my wife on Saturday. It was pretty good. For me not as good as the original but still very watchable. My wife hated the original but really enjoyed this version.

I'm gonna see it again. I loved it. thought it was too short though. Personally, this kind of movie I don't care for story development or character development. I just wanted crazy beasts and fighting, which there was plenty of. Though some of the fighting was confusing. As for the number of dudes that left Argos, yeah, it seemed a lot of guys were dying, especially in the Scorpion scene, but in reality, I think they only lost on or two dudes there. Most of the other guys were knocked around but not killed. Which was stupid. But whatever. Even the star was saying on Letterman that the movie was silly and to not expect much. I think it's all about expectations, really. I expected this movie to be dumb, and walked away entertained as hell. I expected a lot out of Avatar, and walked away thinking it sucked. But then, I thought Terminator Salvation would suck, and it sucked, so I dunno. |

im still going to check it out , i heard from a friend it was horrible and they added some alien type character but i dont think he knows what he is talking about he never saw the original. he is one of the people who likes to pretend to know all things old.. he bashed watchmen without ever knowing it was a graphic novel.
i def. wont go see it in 3d tho. it wasnt shot in 3d and all the effects were added post production so i can only imagine how bad thats going to look. im going to watch the original today. I was seriously bummed that there is no owl.. im not expecting it to be great but entertaining

saw it sat afternoon. I liked it. Just what I expected. Sword swinging and monster killin, and look good doin it.
See the 2D version and save some dough. Like is said in every post here. Wasn't shot in 3D so it will show. Enjoyed the drop in of the Owl. Now just some one take on Jason and the Argonauts or Sinbad in the same style. I like these period type action films. I might be a minority but I kinda like Sam Worthington. He's not that great but he's not that bad either. Though I didn't care all that much for Avatar. I liked a few design aspects of Avatar just not the film overall. Hey Sam is more likeable than Tatum.

I just got back from viewing a screening of class of the titans....
well... Its a popcorn film. overall it was entertaining... THE GOOD: The Visuals are Excellent!! as you probably expected, the 3d visuals are miles above the old Harryhausen stop motion models. I mean THE KRACKEN IS A KRACKEN! The Pegasus looks seriously cool! The Scorpion fight scenes are cool! THE BAD: unfortunetly, .... a lot of the actors don't necessarily live up to the original. Liam Neeson was great as Zeus, but lacked the "regal" presence the original actor had. Perseus was worse, int he original, he WAS a hero, this guy seemed like a whinny bitch. I really cant get into more without revealing the plot, but it is DIFFERENT than the original. scenes and plotlines have been moved around, and new characters were added that weren't in the original.[ and even stole and detracted from the plot/spoiler] THE UGLY the movie is WAY RUSHED. I mean....with an epic Story like Clash of the Titans, you would expect a movie along the lines of LOTR, in both storytelling and in length.. the movie was only about an hour and a half long [spoiler]I mean, it was supposed to be a 10 day journey, and it seemed like only 24 hours. You don't get to attach or learn about any of the characters, and by the time you do, they're dead. way too many action beats, not enough drama and character development. not enough time with the Kracken... and the story moved so fast in some scenes, it almost didn't make sense all in all... I'd give it a B-, possibly even a C. If you liked the recent Terminator, or Avatar, you will be entertained... but for most of us on here..... it's Definitely NOT worth the recent inflated 16 bucks a pop for 3D films. 100% agree with everything you posted I seen it yesterday and was disappointing.

i hadn't planned on seeing this from the trailers that i saw and you just confirmed what I was pretty sure....all the focus on graphics and new (old really) 3D technology and as i feared the story and charcaters were left wanting. Thanks for savign me from having to pay the overinflated movie prices.

Just watched it on DVD... man what a weird movie. I really liked it... but only because it is Clash of The Titans. It just never had an epic feel to it... more like a really, really, really good Sci-fi channel original movie. The environments all looked like sets... everything was too clean and looked fake; this movie must have had a small budget.
The acting didn't match either... it is like they took people who lived in present day and then sent them back into time... so even though they were in an ancient Greece type setting they all acted like they were still in the 20th century. But I liked how they changed the story from the original... Andromeda was still hot... the Kraken was cool... I seriously need to get myself a Pegasus (lol) and overall it was a fun ride. And honestly... I think I can watch Sam Worthington in any movie and end up liking it.
