This is like a remake of Dumb and Dumber. Although I can't figure out who's who.

Finally saw it yesterday with my girl. Very good movie. James Horner's score was suitably epic on cue, and the cinimatography was beautiful, highlighting the scenery of a country whose beauty is so fantastic you almost can't believe it really exists.
I was honestly amazed at the dramatic performance Chan gave. The trailers highlight the more lighthearted moments, but underneath he gives the character unbelievable depth with little nuances here and there, taking some of Morita's emotional cues, but adding subtlety throughout the performance making Mr Han less of an old eccentric and more of an unbalanced recluse, barely holding himself together. By helping Jaden's character, he's saving himself as much as anything else. Oh, and you'll be happy to know that Jaden Smith seems to have inherited more of his father's acting ability than his mother's. While no child actor can ever completely cease to be annoying, he's as low on the scale as you can expect to find, and even comes off as likable. Oh, and as for the name? When you are successfully drawn into a movie, it doesn't matter how good or bad the name is. The name ceases to exist in that world, and doesn't come back into existence until you've stepped back out into the real world. While in the world of the movie, it's a non-issue. The story is all there is, and aside from cosmetic issues I can say as someone who used to live for the final moments of the original, is an extremely faithful retelling of the central themes of the first movie. |

I liked the movie.. and yeah the title shouldn't be the karate kid, it should be the KUNG FU KID. overall, the essence of the karate kid is still there.. just my two cents..

Wow. Just watched this movie on DVD at it was really good... I was stunned. First off, the cinematography was simply gorgeous... a bit too gorgeous, felt so out of place for a movie like this. LOL. And Jackie Chan can act too... I mean he can act in English... which must be hard as hell to do. But the best part IMO is the fighting... I mean 12 year olds are beating the living crap out of each other and everybody is cheering them on... China is awesome! LOL.

I haven't seen this movie yet and will wait for it to hit HBO to see it but am I the only one who thinks Will Smith Jr. looks like Reily from the Boondocks? Give him a fro and he'd pass a Huey too.
