I watched the trailer in 3D. When I watched Alice in Wonderland during the weekend. And I should say, geekgasm the whole time when I was watching it.

Wow I am impressed.
I loved the old tron and I admit I was aprehensive about a sequeal but this looks like it could work, and work well I might add. You can forgive the advancement in effects since in a virtual world things are going to advance heavily. Also it looks like they have the essental elements of the originals visual style while still improving on it. Add to that the plot is interesting, something that I would like to see and see how it unfolds. Add to that you still have the important original cast members (Bruce Boxligner and Jeff Bridges) and its hard to not wanna see this movie. Funny too as I never realized my wife had never seen the first Tron until this trailer came up. I described it to her as best I could and she just looked at me with wide eyes as if saying "OK this can't be a real movie." Lastly I WANT UPDATED TRON FIGURES!!!!! I love the oldies but new ones would rock. |

Looks quite good so far.
I love this movie already just for the fact that it's a testament to the power of "after the theater popularity." Tron didn't do exceptionally well when it actually played in theaters (it wasn't a failure, exactly, but it performed way below expectations...the coin-op video game based on the movie, however, was one of the most successful of all time), but in the intervening years it's taken on an almost mythic status among the "80's generation." It really was a fair bit ahead of its' time. Of course, it helps that this sequel seems to definitely be taking the "faithful" route while still updating the designs. And yes, I'm pretty sure there's a toy line coming. I think Mattel has the license, so expect it to show up around the same time "Avatar" toys started popping up this past year. |
