I love movies, love renting them, love going to see movies in the theater. Well, I was not able to catch this movie in the theater. So when it came out on Tuesday I went straight to BB and all 50 copies sold out within an hour. I went on Thursday...all out. I went on Saturday... all out. Yesterday I called like 4 different BlockBusters.....all out. Finally about to give up and drove to another BB and they had 1 copy in stock. I guess BB has done away with the "Guaranteed in stock" policy.
So anyways, I heard alot of good things about this movie (mainly special effects) and was excited to finally get to watch it. Wow, after the first 10 minutes my wife and I were cracking up laughing how bad this was. Out of the 3 big disater movies director Roland Emmerich has done, The Day After Tomorrow I felt was much better. I completely lost interest in this movie when John Cusack was driving his limo through the massive earthquake in California. I have nothing against JC, I like him as an actor, but I felt like I was watching a cheesy 1980's movie. I love it when the character Gordon is flying through collapsing buildings and just kind of pauses and looks in amazement when everything is crumbling around them. The 10-15 minutes in the beginning really brought this movie down for me. Sorry for the long rant, I know in the end it is just a movie and meant for entertainment, but I liked the Day After Tomorrow much better becasue it was at least more believable then 2012. |

yeah, this was huge disappointment for me too. And i really like Cusack! I do hate on ol' Danny Glover though, but Elijofor Chewitel (sp?) is awesome. By all rights, this movie should have been good.
:: shrug:: what can you do, eh? |

I don't understand how movies like this CAN be dissapointments. How can you even has presumptions that this movie will be good? You actually have to HAVE hopes to have them dashed, and anyone with eyes could tell that movie was a waste of film.

why buy a movie you've never seen? you could have saved yourself the headache of driving around looking for a copy and saved yourself $14 and jut rented it from Redbox for a buck.

exactly. previews should set expectations, and by the previews and the director you should know what you are getting -- garbage. |
