Gotta say that for the past few weeks I was not to in to the Clone Wars. Thought the episodes were a little dry. Now that we got in to this little mini series with the Death Watch, the Clone Wars is right up my alley again. Anyone else really enjoying the Death Watch?

I agree that this season seems a little slow out of the gate. A LOT of promotion was made early about the "rise of the bounty hunters", and we haven't seen Cad Bane in a while.

Really great show. The animation this season is leaps and bounds above what they did for season one. And the stories... I love how 'adult' they are. Not really for kids at all. Very well written.
Anybody wish they would remake Episodes I - III in this animation style, and make them a bit darker? |

The Mandalorian episodes are very well done. BUT.....
This kind of causes a quake in cannon. Some of us have read Karen Traviss's Republic Commando books, which were FAR better than the cartoons and had a far better storyline. There were...5 or 6 of them out before George Lucas decided this was going to happen with the Clone Wars. Well, since he was essentially taking apart his own cannon, he canned Traviss's next few books and labeled the RC series as Non-cannon as I read. Some of the differences in this are: Cartoon: -Mandalore is a technologically advanced planet that is largely desert but has dome-ish cities. -True mandalorians are essentially gone or mutated into the Death Watch. -Mando'a is just the name of people on the planet, not a culture. -Mandalore is ruled by a Duchess and not a Mand'alor. Books: -Mandalore is a poor, green planet good for farming. There are several nice cities including the hidden base of Kal Skirata, a former Mandalorian training sergeant who trained Republic Commandos on Kamino. At the climax of the war, he attempted to get his men out as he wanted a better life for them. It is also quite isolated and contains a very valuable export, Beskar or Mandalorian Iron, one of the only known substances that can stop a lightsaber. This is what Mandalorian armor is made of. -The Death Watch at this time is mostly extinct, but after the events of the KOTOR era, the mandalorians have not rose back to their former Empire status. To quote one of Traviss's characters, "Its a damn good thing as well. Empire's are doomed to fail from day one. Somewhere down the road, they will grow corrupt or too large for themselves." -Mando'a is a culture. In it, children are taught to fight at an early age. Women fight too, and are hard working. They are proud warriors all and not to be trifled with. The culture has its own language and symbols. The Mandalorians are not fond of either the Jedi and the Republic or the Sith and the Empire and attempt at a more pragmatic and less diplomatic way. -After the death of Jango Fett, Mandalore was left without a true clan leader for the span of 2 to three 3 years. Around the time of Order 66, Fenn Shysa took over as Mand'alor. |

That's a shame. I really developed a great affection for the Mandalorians after reading Traviss' novels.
