Mirror Mirror, which starts out at first as a Snow White remake, but turns out to be a parody/comedy instead.

Avengers: Age of Ultron - Or as I've more accurately seen it described, "The Weekend of Ultron". It was fun to see all of the characters back on screen together again, but I just wasn't that thrilled with it. I went into it expecting to love Ultron and hate the Vision, just based on the brief clips that I'd seen beforehand. But I left feeling the opposite. Ultron just came off as empty and bland to me. Just another Terminator. Only not as good looking because he never looked completely real, which is amazing because I thought that metal was the easiest thing to make look real with cgi. The Vision though was much better than expected. I wish they could have had him appear earlier, so he could have gotten more screen time. I've always said that I wasn't a fan of the shared universe concept, and this movie just strengthened my opinion on that. It felt like they spent more time setting up the next Avengers movie, Civil War, and Black Panther than really making any progress themselves. Tony Stark is pretty much unlikable now. They seem to have him contradict himself with each successive movie. In Iron Man 2 he was dying from the poisoning from his arc reactor. The easy fix for that would be to just get rid of the shrapnel in his chest, then he wouldn't need the reactor. But no, he had to make a new core. Then in Iron Man 3 he just gets rid of the shrapnel. Real "genius". At the end of Iron Man 3 he blows up his suits and talks about them being a cocoon. But here he is back in the suit, with some more empty suits following him around again. Then he acts like a complete child, twice, and comes off sounding like Loki, with his suit of armor around the world sounding like his free from freedom line. Other stuff that ended up bugging me were the jokes only a 50 year old should know, like the Veronica thing or Friday. The whole reason for Thor even appearing in the movie seems to have been so that the Vision would be seen as trustworthy. Von Strucker was a waste. The twins barely got any introduction. Were they even twins in the comics, or was that a Wonder-Twins joke? I'm rambling now, so I'll just wrap this up here. I know there was more, but I can't remember it all now. On the plus side, the movie had a better look than the first Avengers did. The score was kind of lousy though. Basically I left this movie feeling pretty much how I did last year when I saw Transformers 4. Judging from the upcoming slate of films, I'll skip Ant Man, then Civil War might be the last one for me.

Friday was named after an AI Stark had in the comics a few years ago. I thought Veronica was named in a gag at Betty and Veronica from Archie and Banner's ex being Betty Ross. I'm 37, btw.

I didn't know about the Friday thing being in the comics. But the Archie joke skews old. I'm 38 and got it too. But it's only because I'm aware of Archie. I think that's all anybody has about Archie, is an awareness of it's existence. It was just a really Whedon-ish thing to me. I'm glad the Russo's are taking over.
