Raw Deal (1986) Between Commando and the absolute classic that is Predator, Arnold made this boring piece of crap.
He played Abe several times in film and I think on stage too. There's a Rifleman episode where he plays a crazy guy who thinks he's Lincoln years after Lincoln died. He was one of those great old school actors with a craggy, worn, lived-and-seen-things type of face and demeanor that would show up on Gunsmoke and in movies all the time back in day. Guys like Claude Akins, Earl Holliman, John Anderson and even Denver Pyle: people who looked like real people. Hollywood doesn't have anyone like that right now, and movies are the poorer for it. Jack Elam was another guy like those other actors you mentioned. Man, love John Anderson too! He is great in everything. Always played mean, tough or aloof characters, definitely did "heavy" roles mostly. Funny enough, he happens to be the voice of Mark Twain on Disneyworld's American Adventure show at EPCOT lol

I've never seen Hercules in NY, but having seen Raw Deal, I can believe it. Quote:
Yup! Think I've seen him in at least 2 or 3 Riflemans. He's in at least one more where he plays a guy who thinks Mark is his lost son. I forgot, he's in Outlaw Josey Wales, House 2 and Killer Klowns too. Saw him pop up in a Quincy and an Emergency! recently on MeTv.

Funny enough, he happens to be the voice of Mark Twain on Disneyworld's American Adventure show at EPCOT lol Jack Elam is definitely another good one, though I have to admit that I struggle to watch him in anything without being reminded of Cannonball Run. I didn't know that Anderson voiced Mark Twain at EPCOT, interesting! |
