I saw a preview for MAD MAX FURIOSA that looked good, so I finally watched MAD MAX FURY ROAD. I liked it more than I thought I would. Over the top action and stunts, but fun.

Really think I am going to have to give this one a try, the two movies surprised me with how fun they were.

i put a lot of effort into a mad max road warrior and mad max costume. like down to getting the right leg prosthetic, truck hitch hinge, and even figured out the brass washers were actually beaten down coins for road warrior (and i am too worried i'd mess up the leg brace i havent put it together).
i really enjoyed fury road. i have two of the m83 south african battle jackets (one still smells like bug killer). i even went as far as plotting out how to turn my car into a v8 interceptor if it were a 98 mustang gt. but i just really dont have any interest in furiosa. the thing i enjoy so much about the mad max movies is how he's this mythical character that appears in these stories and goes on to the next thing. he's the vehicle of making the story move. they took that out of this movie. a good example of what i am trying to say is how mad max thunderdome was created with the idea of the kids, but they didnt have much to go with that so they added max to it and it became a complete movie. i dont care about furiosa, i dont care about immortan joe just as much as i dont care about lord humongous or toekiller. the mystery of them is more powerful than what they're doing in furiosa. so to me, furiosa is a movie about the kids in thunderdome before max came around and im really not into that. |

while I was just a little kid in the early 1980s where I would watch Mad Max 2 on HBO when it was on HBO, these days looking back, every old Mad Max movie is overrated and pretty much a stunt car fest with one on screen real accident in Mad Max 2.
I'm more of a Space Hunter, Ice Pirates and Metalstorm fan |

Was it an episode of Freddy's Nightmares that featured an episode where a kid was rounded up because he was a non-conformist and put in a meat grinder with a bunch of other kids to be made "normal?" I think I remember seeing something like that in high school. |

I will not be seeing this. The original with Lee Majors was the best. Just having Ryan Gossling play Colt Seavers is just not right.

Joe Kidd (1972) Middling western, one of Eastwood's lesser movies in the genre. But Eastwood himself is always excellent, and the train scene toward the end is fun.
The Man from the Alamo (1953) Somewhat bland, even more middling western. On the bright side, Julie Adams from Creature of the Black Lagoon is always great, and there's a bit part for Guy Williams of Lost in Space and Zorro fame. My favorite thing about Ice Pirates is watching for reused props, like the Solarcar and Sandman Ground Cars from the Logan's Run TV show, or John Wayne's bandoliers and medallion from The Conqueror (Worn by Anjelica Huston in Ice Pirates). They're all over the place in that movie. And speaking of reused props, the vehicles from Spacehunter got reused in all sorts of fun places too, from Knight Rider to Iron Maiden's Spinner photoshoot for Somewhere in Time. As a younger guy, I wish the Fall Guy had gotten a proper full series DVD release. They released the first season (and maybe season 2, but that's a bit unclear for the US), but not the rest. It's one of the only major 80s action TV shows that I'm not super familiar with. I probably will see the film, but I won't have much of a frame of reference for comparison. |

yeah I remember that episode a little bit when the show was on Tubi during 2022. That and episode where some guy was being hunted down because he was middle aged and he met a group of people that were trying to rebel against the city. that episode was similar to Logan's Run a little bit.
other people say that Freddy's Nightmares didn't have anything to do with Freddy but that's total BS. People like that they never bothered to watch the show at all. throughout the whole show there are episodes that deal with Freddy. Freddy's high school reunion, then there's the No More Mr Nice Guy and Sister's Keepr episodes where they count as a mini prequel movie. Back in the day when the show was on tv the only episodes that I remember back then were the weird cannibal love triangle and the Mime episode. and yes Brad Pitt was in an episode but so were other actors and actresses such as Lori Petty and Mariska whatever her last name is before she stars later on in Law and Order Special Victims Unit. Her character does a sleep studay at the worst place to do he sleep study at Freddy's boiler factory Quote:
I didn't know that it was even on there.
