It's only spoilery if you have already figured out the obvious for yourself, which you will have.
The next biggest idiot moment is the face hugger incident, which the victim had every opportunity and logical reason in the world to avoid. Prometheus only had one scene, the snake handling scene, where people complained about stupid characters. So if they were trying to apologize to the haters of Prometheus, they failed in that respect also. The anti-Prometheus aspects of the movie feel like they were done by a competing director trying to retcon away stuff a different director did. But instead this is like Chris Claremont turning the Dr. Doom appearances he wrote into Doombots himself instead of John Byrne doing it. Obviously the marketing department was in the driver's seat on "xeno-ing" the movie up. But you get an odd mix of Ridley Scott putting in obviously uncommercial, artsy scenes like the flute scene in-between the slasher action which he seems to be phoning in. Still, none of it felt quite as plastic, stiff and inauthentic as The Force Awakens, nor as overwrought and inconsequential as Rogue One. There is a crisp efficiency to the production and execution. Unless you count his participation in the script, there is little if anything to criticize about Ridley Scott's direction here. And Danny McBride is the first guy who ever really pulled off the token cowboy-hat sci-fi crew member. I'm very surprised folks liked it as much as they did. |

Honestly I'm still confused by RO. What was the point of that movie? Literally all the main characters die and we already knew the Rebels got the DS plans. For all those reasons I felt no emotional resonance with any of the characters I don't really care that they all die because many of them weren't that likeable.
I'm very surprised folks liked it as much as they did. Anyway, I liked it and that's all that matters to me. Last edited by SmokeBellew; 05-29-2017 at 12:03 PM.. |

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2.
It was enjoyable. I've hand my fill of 70's tunes for awhile, though. So much going on in the end credits. Why was Jeff Goldblum's picture in them when he was not in the film? (He's gonna be in Thor 3). |

Rogue one was entertaining but dumb and hollow...it was mostly trying to be a modern Fast-and-Furious or Pirates-style Star Wars movie. Their mistake was not going for all-out action. They wasted time trying to develop characters with a horribly written backstory.
That's why movies like Pirates 5 are better. The story and character development isn't any better, but they go for all-out action and non-stop special effects and save the dialogue for some short, brief interludes. Pirates 5 also had a very good lead villain. Rogue One had the worst, dullest lead villain of any Star Wars film. Last edited by JediJones; 05-31-2017 at 10:45 PM.. |

I liked Rogue One but I think they overthought it, it should've been a heist film or Dirty Dozen movie. |
