DOFP was my most recent outing to the movies.
At home I last watched Batman Forever with my Nephew. I really wish they would release the directors cut of this movie. Some of the deleted scenes make a drastic difference to this and I cant understand why WB haven't done this yet. |

I keep forgetting to post in this, so this will be long.
Speed - I'd read that it was the 20th anniversary of the movie's release and had been meaning to watch it. The magic of the movie is that it just got all the simple details right. They didn't overwhelm you with information and motivations. The bad guy wanted money, and he was crazy. They could have added a bit more, but it was Dennis Hopper, so the crazy was just taken as a given. The jump is still ridiculous, but the build up to is great. They really put you on the bus with them and you cheer for them, instead of just rolling your eyes at it. Batman - Another anniversary here, this time the 25th. I was 11 when it came out and I still remember how crazy everyone was for Batman that year. That poster with just the gold Bat symbol was everywhere. I've never seen a buzz about a movie like that again. "Terminator 2" was close, and "Titanic" got a ton, but most of that was after it was released. The last few times I've watched it, I've seen it as more of a dark update of the campy tv show, and there's a lot of that there for sure, but now I think of it more as it's own individual...thing. And it's still great to this day. I can't figure out why the super-hero boom didn't really take off right after this came out, instead of ten years later. I know a lot of the heroes needed better effects, but look at what Burton did with just stuntmen and miniatures! Hard to believe he made it so old school, and it came out the same year as "The Abyss". World War Z - First off, I never read the book or comic or whatever, so I had no grudge against this movie at all. Much like "Speed", it just does all the little things right. Brad Pitt's reactions all through the movie are just perfect, from standing on the ledge, to cutting the soldier's hand off, he just does the right thing at the right time. You never want to yell at him for doing something stupid. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - Well...it was okay. But I completely see why it bombed. I liked the last half of it, even though they pulled the final villain out of their ass. But the casting was horrible. I like Chris Pine, but Jack Ryan needs to be a boy scout, and he just isn't that. I read Ryan Gosling was up for the part, and he would have fit better. It's odd to actually see Keira Knightley in something that's set in the present day. Kevin Costner is a dud, somebody like Kurt Russell or Bill Paxton would have added more personality. And it's just laughable to see Kenneth Branagh direct himself as the villain. What, was every other European actor busy filming "Game of Thrones" while this was shooting? Stick with theater Ken. |

Buffalo soldiers(2001,directed by Gregory Jordan with Joaquin Phoenix,Anna paquin,ed Harris and Scott glenn)drama centered around a black market operation(drugs, contraband, etc) set on a U.S. army base in Germany just before the fall of the Berlin wall and the 're-unification of east and west Germany in the late 1980`s.
