Dark Knight Rises
IMO the most watchable of the trilogy.I do really hate one thing that Nolan did here but just ignore it now. MI4:Ghost Protocol very enjoyable.this was my 2nd watch and it was excellent again. |

The Amazing Spider-Man - Okay, I knew that I probably wouldn't like this movie going into it. I don't like Andrew Garfield for one, and the trailers didn't impress me. After seeing it, it didn't change my mind one bit. It just seemed like a totally unnecessary reboot. I grew up reading my older brothers Spider-Man comics and all the reprints in Marvel Tales. So I was a huge fan of the 60's, classic Spider-Man. And Sam Raimi's movies just nailed that. This movie though is all Ultimate Spider-Man, and it's just a rehash without the charm. I don't mean to pile on the movie, because I know Joker liked it and I agree with a lot of his reviews. But all I could do was complain to myself about the movie as I watched it. I was hoping at least that they would make Spider-Man funnier in this one, because that was the only thing I thought was lacking in Raimi's movies. But other than when he caught the car thief, he wasn't making any jokes. They copied the whole figuring out his powers thing from Raimi, along with having the villain be a scientist he befriends who uses himself as a guinea pig because of the threat of losing his job. And did they really need to have the whole Flash Thompson bullying thing again? Peter just sort of came off as an ass through the whole movie. Though really thats how most teens are now. Garfield just looks so damn weedy and was annoyingly twitchy through the whole movie.
I did like that they finally had the Lizard as a villain. The design wasn't all that great though, and the cgi was unconvincing. If they would have had his wife and son in the movie it would have made him a bit more sympathetic. He was always the one villain that Spider-Man could never just let loose on because he respected him. I did like that he saved Peter at the end though, so he wasn't all bad. Denis Leary was good as Captain Stacey. His role pretty much made up for not having J. Jonah Jameson in the movie, and gave Peter a third replacement father figure. I really don't get the appeal of Emma Stone. She had no personality and just seems a lot older than she is. I'll have to watch the deleted scenes tomorrow, maybe there was something more there. Anyway, I've ranted long enough. I just think that probably 99% of the people that saw this movie, have seen the original Spider-Man film, so there was no point to going over the origin again so soon, and in worse way. They could have just treated it like a Bond movie. Just have a story, and not really worry about it fitting in exactly with the previous timeline. Just have a two minute montage at the begining showing how he got his powers and go from there. As much as I like Jamie Foxx, I won't be seeing the sequel. |

They're still shitty.
Argo - Damn, that was a good movie. Very tense. Even when you know how it ends! And everything looked authentic. A lot of times, movies set in the 70's tend to make the people look glamorous, when in fact everything was just plain ugly back then. Bad clothes, bad hair, bad everything. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm kind of a Ben Affleck fan now. |
