Finally watched Kraven last night. It was ok. Felt like Russell Crow's character was more of the "Kraven" from the comics than ATJ was.

i havent seen john carter yet, i just bought it along with my "oh, i should probably get this" dvd purchases i am making now.

i didnt know there was a doc savage movie, so i guess i'll look into that. lxg i have in my superhero section with other alan moore movies based on his books; and i didnt classify that as pulp given the characters are mostly literary. but i guess if i run out of room on my superhero shelf that one can move to the pulp hero movies.

While it has its flaws for a comic based movie it was pretty good
I feel like the script and a few actors acting hurt the movie I took my son to see it in the theaters and we enjoyed it ..

I own it in dvd and have watched it several times over the years

Yep, Way more cutthroat and tough, but ATJ did a great job with the smart ass. I liked Calypso too, but we need SPIDER-MAN TORMENT version!

One of the nice things about JC is that a lot of it does stick somewhat close to the books. There's a couple kinda goofy elements from the books that, were it me, I'd have been tempted to change for a movie, but were kept for the 2012 film.
I think one of its biggest mistakes was the name. Had they called it "John Carter of Mars" or even taken the title of the first book "A Princess of Mars", I think people would've had a much better idea of what it was supposed to be. Just "John Carter" is an awful title.
One of the weird things to consider is that, despite being mostly forgotten, the movie actually did have a major effect on the film industry, and not a good one. Reportedly, Disney had been hoping to build John Carter into a massive moneymaking franchise, and when it flopped, they pivoted to buying Lucasfilm. Had JC done well, we might've been spared some really awful movies...

That one shouldn't be too hard for you to find. Warner Archive put the DVD out maybe 10 years ago. I found my copy at a thrift store 2-3 years ago and I still haven't gotten around to watching it.

Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)
This is the earliest film I remember seeing Tom Hardy in. It isn't great, but I prefer Romulans to other TNG antagonists. It also feels more "space opera" than other TNG films, too. I'll probably rewatch the TNG/Picard/Borg arc before I start TOS.

I wouldn't mind a return to basic good guys fighting unapologetic villains; no bleak, gritty, flawed nonsense. The barely-a-hero, anti-hero, and sympathetic villain are exhausted.

I agree about "of Mars" and distinctly remember someone who was unfamiliar with the books asking me if the movie was about Noah Wyle's ER character.
The movie's Princess of Mars looked too Disney and Lynn Collins isn't a very good actress, so they dodged a bullet there.
Disney makes and loses a lot of money, but it's been a long time since I felt excitement toward a project of theirs.
The WB Archive has been a great option for going back and finding some of the old greats, especially for a physical library. Some of the WB/Hanna-Barbera library also appears under that banner.
I liked the story for TWINE but there were too many quips and Denise Richards was bad casting. I do think RM & TD's films are the easiest to re-watch but it's been (possibly) a decade since I've watched the "official" Connery 007s. DC sucked the life out of the franchise.

The John Carter movie was going to be called "A Princess of Mars" but they thought it'd turn off guys going to see it and "John Carter of Mars" was considered, but historically, movies with Mars in the title doing badly at the box office, so it got changed to just 'John Carter'.
