"She is Lana Turner," makes me laugh aloud every time I watch it. I remember being impressed by Kevin Spacey's eyes in that moment. His best performance. He showed how much presence and stillness he could bring to his work as opposed to typically being a verbose, tantrum-throwing, creep. He brought much stability to the three-hero dynamic. And, the score at the end - during the "Thanks for the push" moment (track is called The Victor) - is one of the best tracks in Goldsmith's library.

That makes a heck of a double feature with Rock Hudson's film, Embryo.

I love Gladiator but I gotta go with Master & Commander. Interestingly RC did an interview recently where a reporter asked him about it and it's resurgence in popularity and if a sequel was in play. He said that there was talks for a sequel originally, but that Peter Weir went wayyy over budget and the delays forced the movie to release at the same time as Pirates of the Caribbean. He said that he loves the movie and that it only works because of Weir's attention to detail and his brilliance as a director, but he hints that studios were pretty much done with him after that and that the films wouldn't work with a different director. Which explains why Weir didn't really do anything after M&C except The Way Back despite being a multi oscar nominated director.
