Jessica Jones: Season 1

Didn't know a thing about this character when I first watched the series, but I was pleasantly surprised. It does drag a bit, in parts, but Krysten Ritter is fun to watch, bringing a nice cynical edge to Jessica. The star of the show is David Tennant as The Purple Man, probably the most outright evil villain in the MCU. Killgrave is an incredibly creepy and psychopathic character and Tennant portrays him so convincingly.

This season was my favorite MCU Netflix season ever. All because of Tennant. The manipulation had me so angry at him for the whole season. Loved it.

The whole series is just "Ethan Hunt". The MI name was usurped for brand recognition. I believe the show was still on heavy syndication when they made the first movie.

I mean, you have to pretty much ignore both the original show and the 88-89 sequel show in order for any of the movies to make sense, but the 1996 movie definitely was intended as a sequel to the show.
It wanted to trade on people's love of the show to get maximum surprise for their Phelps betrayal moment.
Originally, the entire original team were supposed to be in it. The team that dies at the start was literally supposed to be Rollin, Cinnamon, Barney and Willy, but all the actors refused to take part. So Voigt was brought in to play DePalma's Phelps and the rest of the cast was replaced with other characters.
It's a shame that other actors haven't protected their beloved characters the same way. *glares at Harrison Ford*

A fun fact: Barbara Bain played Cinnamon Carter in an episode of Diagnosis Murder which means that Ethan Hunt *technically* exists in the same world as Mannix, Diagnosis Murder, Jake and the Fatman and Matlock, as well as the original and sequel MI shows.

Yep, it definitely became that, though the first was as much about character-assassinating Jim Phelps for that all-important shock value. Otherwise it's just another of the dozens of 90s "lone man on the run" films that tried to capitalize on The Fugitive remake's success.

I knew that Beetlejuice 2 was going to be bad as soon as they showed the trailer and Lydia was in goth garb again. Apparently the "Tim Burton style" is more important than paying attention to the what the end of the original film says about Lydia. Character assassination again, not only for Lydia but also the Maitlands. But hey, it's got to look goth to please all the weird people with "Nightmare Before Christmas" pajamas, seat covers and Christmas ornaments. What do little things like characters matter?

As for the IMF, the movies took a while to bring team into the mix. I find Pegg *seems* to take himself too seriously, otherwise I liked the dynamic of 3-6. Would like them to have brought back Paula Patton, though, as she had the same appeal as Jane Badler from the second series. The movies lack a genuine feeling of fun and escapism (as most hero films do these days) and the idea that they're now all reformed criminals takes them too deep into anti-hero territory. But, guess this next one is TC's last action movie anyway, so I'll watch to see how it fares.
