I only watched the first JJ movie. I enjoyed it in the moment, but when I was telling my mum about it, I started realising how god-awfully stupid it was. Although, I did thing the whole red goo turns a supernova into a black hole was stupid from the get-go. I thought the trailer for Into Crapness looked like generic SF and didn't bother.

True. It was ahead of its time in that regard. I do think TC learned from the mistake of M:I. The later films are especially stronger for their IMF teams, but they can't undo the way they screwed over the front man. CHiPs, Starsky, the Dukes ... all got crapped on. Beverly Hillbillies and the Flintstones were/are good re-watches. I'm not sure I want to watch Ryan Gosling's The Fall Guy.
I am looking forward to the new one. Cruise and McQuarrie earned a lot of good will from me with Top Gun: Maverick, and Hayley Atwell is always good. Plus it isn't a cape movie. Agreed on Gosling's Fall Guy. I haven't seen the original, but modern remakes and sequels just ain't worth it. Maybe some good will come of it; maybe they'll make the original show easier to get on DVD. Quote:

Planet of the Apes (1968) First time watching it, and I have to say that I expected better. Most of the movie is actually pretty dull. Maybe it works better without knowing the ending ahead of time.
The Deep (1977) Some pretty good scenes, and a great cast, but a bit on the long side. |

I rewatched Weird Science the other day.
It's a dumb movie, but it's harmless 80s fun. I liked the Chet blob form at the end. I should have bought the reaction figure. Now it's sold out and super expensive. I know Kelly LeBrock is one of the all-time 1980s dreamgirls, but I honestly think Judie Aronson was soooo much hotter. She was just perfect to me in that 80s hair and make-up. I would take her over Kelly LeBrock any day. |
