Outlander (2008)
Ha! Yes, I liked that twist in the story, too, as well as Dax's back story with him. Quote:

That was actually the first episode of DS9 I ever saw. It's a special feature on the Tribble disc on one of the DVD sets of the original show. It's a great episode.

All I really remember of JarJar's crap movies is the blonde woman in her underwear (2nd movie?), Benedict Cumberbatch being a crappy Khan and Old Spock showing up to tell us what we all already knew: These weren't the real voyages of the starship Enterprise, or the real Kirk, Spock and McCoy.
I never even bothered watching the third one. Generations feels like the first of the modern "Legacy Sequel" trend where a classic, awesome character is belittled, made out to be stupid and/or killed off in a dumb way in order to make a lesser, more modern character look better. It's like Trans Formers The Movie, but without the vital element of making it Hot Rod's fault. (It actually is Picard's fault, there was no reason they couldn't have gone back to when McDowell was on board the Enterprise D and kept Kirk alive and the ship intact. Picard apparently just doesn't think of that, and the script just hopes we don't notice.) The '96 Mission Impossible movie did the same thing, only taking it a step further by making the TV show's leader, Jim Phelps, a traitor (for less money than he routinely handled on the show). They actually intended to have Phelps kill off the entire original team in the opening scene of the movie (Where Ethan Hunt's team would eventually die), but Peter Graves, Martin Landau, Barbara Bain, Greg Morris and Peter Lupus all refused to take part. So they recast Peter Graves' Phelps role as Jon Voigt. It's a shame that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill didn't learn from the original MI crew. I realized that. My bad manners got me answering a remark intended for someone else. It's a bad habit of mine. Apologies.

Julian's puppy love w/her gets ... weird. And knowing is half of the battle, kiddo. I didn't mind the first movie. Chris Pine and Karl Urban made it watchable. And I'll always give Bruce Greenwood an audience. Zoe grew on me, but that's about it. Quote:
True. It was ahead of its time in that regard. I do think TC learned from the mistake of M:I. The later films are especially stronger for their IMF teams, but they can't undo the way they screwed over the front man. CHiPs, Starsky, the Dukes ... all got crapped on. Beverly Hillbillies and the Flintstones were/are good re-watches. I'm not sure I want to watch Ryan Gosling's The Fall Guy. |
