There's a lot going on in my little world and a few weeks ago our fiber Internet went out. So i chuffedly went to what i thought was a pretty damn good movie collection pieced together from closing video stores and a general collection.
Well. Turns out i was pretty wrong. See. I was in the mood to watch something "like star wars" but not star wars. I wanted scifi but "turn off my brain and enjoy but it not be a movie." I didn't have anything that met those needs. My son never leaves my side so anything even remotely scary was off limits. Westerns are too much for a 7 year old and i didn't want to explain why the guy plays a harmonica. Or why the town needed 7 heroes to fight an army. Or watch a bill murray movie. And then i thought "well shit. If i run out of internet forever. This is pretty much it." And i realized my proud movie collection wasnt so hot. So i started a list to get (i added a couple since my question in the last watched thread) I want to expand my scifi collection (think like star wars, enemy mine), action (like big trouble in little china, and mad max), fantasy, horror(no demons -just not into it and slashers and inbred cannibals - that shit is real). Genres I like: zombie movies, post apocalyptic movies, westerns, sci-fi, comedy, action, buddy movies. Last action hero Assault on precinct 13 In the mouth of madness Midnight special Prince of Darkness Village of the damned carpenter Dark star Mandalorian series Ghostbusters Frozen empire Friday the 13 all Outland Silent Running Die hard Lethal Weapon Close Encounters of the Third Kind Legend Sword and the stone 48 hrs Beverly Hills Cop all Lethal weapon just 1st American werewolf in london Adventure time Bill and Ted 3 Gentlemen broncos The mist Guardians of the galaxy vol 2 Guardians of the galaxy vol 3 Demolition man Disney robin hood Disney peter pan 3:10 to Yuma Avengers: Age of Ultron Avengers: Infinity War Avengers endgame Thor: Ragnarok Antman 1-3 Dark knight rises Smallville season 3-10 Gundam 08th ms team Nevada smith Jericho tv series Never ending story Explorers Disney 20000 leagues under the sea Kolchak series Conan the Barbarian Conan the destroyer Thirteen Ghosts remake Sixth sense Big Hero 6 Princess bride Deadpool all The martian Fire and ice m.a.s.k complete series Van Helsing Dredd Tank Girl Hardware Virus Be Kind Rewind Contact Wing Commander Starship Troopers Mortal Combat Weird Science Repo Man Wargames Johnny Mnemonic Neverwhere 13th Floor Being John Malkovich Con Air Speed Short Circuit Ladyhawke Excalibur Dragonslayer Dragonheart Ace Ventura Indian in the Cubbard The Rescuers Down Under All Dogs Go to Heaven Time Bandits The Adventures of Baron Munchausen Brazil Shawshank Redemption Hook Event Horizon The BFG Red Planet Moon Sunshine Ex Machina Rollerball Pan's Labyrinth Mib Conjuring Tucker and dale vs evil Nice guys Dead poets society Night of the comet Arachnophobia Pitch black PURCHASED FROM THE LIST ABOVE: cabin in the woods (i bought a double. Gijoe complete sunbow series jeremiah johnson cowboy bebop the complete series cowboy bebop the movie Unforgiven Jaws Howard the Duck Alien Quadrilogy (holy shit, i had the 3 pack set and resurrection, but it's lost and i totally forgot about it! so this is to replace that.) Not pictured is the star wars trilogy, clash of the titans, jason and the argonauts, pee wees playhouse. 1988 tmnt series and ichabod and mr.toad, the flash tv series, the mad max trilogy on blu ray(i dont know where this is at right now) and my son's and my wife's collection). I also need to figure out how to make what i have digitally to physical. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by THEDARKONE508; 01-31-2025 at 04:41 PM.. |

Solid collection. Sarah Connor Chronicles; early Heroes is good; and soft spot for Smallville to name a few! A lot of Smallville cast were often seen around town (Vancouver); and the skytrain (subway) would go by their filming studio
Battlestar Galactica and or Stargate SG1? Last edited by Rooted; 01-12-2025 at 09:36 PM.. |

I don't even want to know what I've spent on VHS tapes that were then replaced by DVDs, that were then replaced with blu rays, that are now being replaced with 4k blu rays. I think I've got nearly 400 blu rays. I'm much more selective with 4ks though. Just got The Searchers, which looks incredible. And Air America because it's been so long since I watched it.

Nice Western selection! Definitely get 3:10 to Yuma, with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. That's a hell of a good movie.
Oh, and Unforgiven! I'm surprised that isn't already in your collection, what with all the other Clint Eastwood westerns you've got. I didn't see Return of the Living Dead in your horror film section. That's a must own.

i have to get 3:10 to yuma and unforgiven, i'll add it to my list. i saw return of the living dead, but after that one i get kind of sour on them and it kind of gives me a bad taste of the first one.
when someone mentioned halloween 3 in the last movie watched thread i smacked my head. it's my favorite in the franchise and i didnt add it to my list. i talk about halloween 3 all the time around halloween, i love that movie and i cant believe why i forgot it. that's why i brought this question to everyone. there are movies i like, but i just cant recall them in my mind. someone also mentioned in the other thread flea markets. lol. there are some, but they're more like dirt lots full of garbage. the last time i bought a bunch of movies was at a yard sale for a buck each; withdrew 40 bucks just for dvds, and left with 2 bucks. I find the indoor flea market/antique mall type places will usually have a good selection of dvds and blurays between a dollar or two that aren't totally trashed. I used to hit up a pawn shop that had thousands of them of decent quality to look through. At one point they would have deals where you could get 15 for $10.
Here's a few I thought of while looking through your list and pics. Westerns: Nevada Smith Two Mules for Sister Sara The Proposition Post Apocalyptic: The Road The Girl With All The Gifts Jeremiah (tv series) Jericho (tv series) Kid friendly sci fi/fantasy: E.T. The Never Ending Story Explorers

I'd recommend Rio Bravo (which a lot of Walmarts currently are carrying in a $5 two pack with the Searchers, another classic). There's a lot of other great John Wayne movies out there, so I'll just leave "John Wayne" as a suggestion.
Another suggestion would be some 50's scifi greats: Godzilla Creature from the Black Lagoon Forbidden Planet Them 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea The Thing from Another World The Day the Earth Stood Still Invasion of the Body Snatchers (also maybe the 78 version) I see you have the two Kolchak TV movies, I'd recommend getting the show as well. It usually runs $10-15 and it's a bargain for that. Some other suggestions: Star Trek original TV show and movies Conan the Barbarian (1982 version, obviously) Classic Universal Monster films I will warn you that I see some usual suspects for the infamous WB disc rot there. Lois & Clark s3 & 4 each have one disc that's usually bad, and I think the same issue plagues Superfriends, 2010, Superboy and maybe even Smallville. A youtuber called Damn Fool Idealistic Crusader has done a couple videos on the syndrome and has compiled a list of affected discs. |

Am I overlooking Batman the Animated Series?
(All of SnowCat's sci-fi suggestions are great.)
