I never listen to them. I wish they would shut up and find a real job. The only time I have ever regretted not listening to them was in Terminator Salvation.

It's funny, they just had a pretty extensive article in my local paper today (The Washington Post) about how negative reviews from critics don't really seem to affect box-office take. Particularly where "summer blockbusters" are concerned.

Millions of people are getting laid off & losing their jobs around the country. But these totally useless bastards manage to keep their jobs & collect a paycheck for watching movies. I wanna get paid for watching movies!

I can read, can you follow your own position? clearly your point was that because they are escapist entertainment than they don't warrant being critiqued (even if just some of them). I addressed that.
and it is evident by calling them blind or stupid you are being emotional about the situation, not reasonable, and being emotional is a clear indicator of taking something personally. perhaps you should learn to read your own words that you write, or if you mispoke learn how to write to communicate your thoughts more accurately. any movie that has a plot, follows the typical 3 or 4 act structure, containing a beginning, middle and end/climax is clearly attempting to tell a story in a traditional format that caters to an audience's expectations of what a story should contain, so those movies are open to be critiqued on how well they execute those elements. the next time there is a movie where the characters are placed in a scenario where something is at stake, the stakes raise throughout, and the characters overcome some hurdle to accomplish that -- in other words, just randomly wonder around for two hours, aim for nothing and accomplish nothing or something random that comes out of the blue -- then you'll have a point. until then, there's nothing outlandish about criticizing even the most ridiculous movie for being executed poorly, even if you weren't concerned with those elements yourself. If you can read then your comprehension level is below sea level. The gist of my post was lambasting the critics for using their columns for Hollywood political reasons and lambasting rivals that have stakes in movie production houses.... the other half clearly stated that some of those critics also forget that some movies arent supposed to be serious, artsy pieces but mindless fun. If you cannot understand that then I can always break out the chalk board.

In some cases, I agree. In others, NO. There's a complete douche named Dan Gire who is the reviewer for the local one. But I have a feeling he's only this way because he can't get to create. (Hey, like "The Critic"!)
EDIT-Oh, Mr. Gire reached a new level of douchiness today. He had an ENTIRE ARTICLE about how Paramount was asking why he gave them a bad review. Okay, I didn't like the movie either, but for him to miss the point of some movies (Not TF2, because that had a lot of flaws) as escapist entertainment and call them "The Porn Defense" PROVES he's an uncreative jerk.
